Multilayerism: Genesis – the Gengre – emerges from my exploration, examination and appraisal of the concept of multiculturalism and its implications for peace and security in urban settlements (2002 panel discussion (together with Pual Pederson)– East-West Centre Hawaii – at the Conference in Kuala Lumpur in 2002) understanding and in 2003 at an international conference by CIOS at Indo-American Centre for International Studies Hyderabad.

Multilayered Cities – the proposal to hold a conference on this theme was submitted to the IGU ‘s Urban Commission at University of Rikkyo in Tokyo, Japan in August 2005 and again at the University of Sandiago de Compostela, Spain in August 2006.

Multilayered Cities – The comprehensive proposal was presented in 2007 in University of Gunagzhou, China and the Urban Commission suggested the expansion of the theme to include ‘Urban Systems’

Multilayered Urban Systems - Structures-Functions-Transactions -Transitions – the expanded theme was finally presented in 2008 in Tunis, Tunisia at the Urban Commission meet there in August.

The Conference ‘Multilayered Urban Systems - Structures-Functions-Transactions –Transitions’ is slated to be held in Hyderabad, India from 30th July 2009 to 10th August 2009.
