Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 September 25

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have written a short article on the composer 'Alex Parsons', taken from a number of sources including his official website, the internet movie database and an interview with 365 Mag. Links have been made to a number of films he has worked on, as well as the University at which he studied. I would very much appreciate some feedback on this! Many thanks

I note that since this request was made, User:Kudpung has highlighted the main issues with the article. Yaris678 (talk) 01:20, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just made this article and would love some feedback.

I improved the references a bit; see Template:cite web.
I removed an external link to http://www.rhodesproject.com in the actual body; they can only go in "External links" - see WP:EL.
I've de-linked England and Wales, as they are 'common terms' - these links don't help to understand the topic.
You might want to add an infobox, Template:Infobox Non-profit - see the box at the top of Wikimedia Foundation for an example.
I'll remove the 'unreviewed' tag; for further ideas see WP:DEVELOP.  Chzz  ►  18:43, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You need to show Notability by showing that the subject is discussed in multiple reliable sources. Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Urban Dictionary can be used for some purposes, but probably doesn't count toward notability. Facebook can be used in very limited circumstances, but this doesn't qualify. Sorry to be so negative, but you have no qualifying reliable sources.--SPhilbrickT 23:58, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a newbie at this and want to know if this article requires anything more to be Wikipedia worthy. Any feedback would be helpful.

You need to show Notability by showing that the subject is discussed in multiple reliable sources. External links are nice but they are not references. Please read Manual of Style to see how to do section headings. Please see Referencing for beginners for help with referencing.--SPhilbrickT 00:01, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
  1. I have changed the section name to the correct name of your article.
  2. "strives to provide the highest possible level of service to..." is problematic for two reasons (1) Doesn't actually say what the service is. Is it advocacy? (2) It seems like WP:Puffery. I think it would be better to say something like "provides advocacy for..." or even "advocates for..."
  3. The WP:Notability of the subject currently seems borderline. It would help if you could provide some other information from other reliable sources. For example, has the local press written about this organisation?
