Portal:Pakistan[edit]

  • Support: This Portal seems to be a complete and comprehensive guide to Pakistan. Particularly, News and featured article sections have been maintained nicely. The portal deserves the right to appear as a featured portal. Nomi887 04:02, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ehhhhmmm ... you might want to review Your comment again. feydey 10:46, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portal:Motorsport[edit]

I think that it is quite good for appearance and varied content, and we update the sections very regularly, but I am not yet certain whether it would have any chance of becoming featured, so any and all advice is more than welcome. Adrian M. H. 17:55, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expand and copyedit the intro. Science in "Related portals" (no Portal:Technology or Portal:Cars)? Per other titles "Motorsport news" --> "News". The references in "Quotes" seems odd. "Racing categories" is quite confusing as it doesn't include actual wikipedia categories as other portals. Check and fix "Associated Wikimedia" links. feydey 20:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the input. I will have a look at the intro; it probably hasn't changed much from what the creating editor wrote. Two portals that we may not have known about; I'll include those. News section will be changed. Re the refs; odd how? Re racing categories; "categories of racing" is the standard terminology, which just coincides with WP's terminology, so I don't think that it should be changed. Associated links will be checked. Thanks. Adrian M. H. 20:31, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
See the main portals Portal:History, Portal:Geography etc. they have a "Categories" box not "History categories" or "Geography categories" boxes i.e. no repetition as no "Motorsport selected article" etc. Just add a "Categories" box.
Refs: If You could use quotes without huge references in the same box as in "I didn't make mistakes. I made prophesies which immediately turned out to be wrong." – Murray Walker in The Best of Murray Walker." or even "I didn't make mistakes. I made prophesies which immediately turned out to be wrong." – Murray Walker, The Best of Murray Walker, pp. 6." Best luck. feydey 20:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll look at changing that. Thanks again. Adrian M. H. 21:26, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Getting closer, I think. Thus far, I have reworked the layout, fixed display bugs, rewritten the intro, added new images, removed dead links (the template associated media will return if and when pages are created to support it), tidied the quotes, and begun the process of creating two sub-pages for wikiprojects, tasks, categories and key articles so that readers are free to focus on what they want to see. There is more to do, however, so further feedback would be very helpful and very much appreciated. Adrian M. H. 22:03, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. The biographies are almost exclusively Formula One drivers. Fortunately one is a rally driver, and one has raced in Champ Car along with F1. Maybe you should back off a bit, and include other drivers' articles that meet Good Article criteria instead of Featured Article. I know there aren't any NASCAR drivers (YET!). What about other disciplines? Despite my comments, you should keep Schumacher no matter what because he is so well recognized. Otherwise it is ready to be featured! I'm sure you didn't mean "Maybe you should back off a bit" to read as it does! Not sure how to interpret that, to be honest. I haven't looked at the selected articles yet, because I have been so busy with all the other bits, so I don't know what we've got. I know we need more, for sure, because the same old articles keep appearing whenever I visit the portal! I could use some help from project members in terms of finding and organising articles, including content for the red link in the to-do box, which needs sorting ASAP, because it won't get featured with incomplete red linked sections. I have a list of subjects for that (drivers, teams, circuits, etc.) but nothing else as yet. See the "articles list" at Portal:United States for an impression of what I had in mind. Adrian M. H. 18:47, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the assumption that you only used featured articles, and that you had selected the final list. I meant that you should use a less strict criteria, such as meeting Good Article criteria, or maybe a strong B quality. I'd be happy to help you find articles, and to help develope the portal! Royalbroil 21:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Skully picked them out when he created the portal; I don't think they have been added to or changed since then. We have a paucity of really good articles to use, unfortunately. Your help would be very welcome; for any decent articles (B-class or better) that you think we should use, leave a link on the portal talk page or feel free to make new templates for them. Existing content can be found in this list. We really need some more quotes, too, but I lack any sources for those. I'll post a reminder about that at the project's talk page for everyone's attention. And I really want to set up an anniversary section as well (maybe not right away, as it probably won't be an FP deal breaker). I was thinking of a seven-day set that changes each week, with one or two birthdays, deaths, and other events for each date. Portal:Aviation has dates that change each day, but that means way too much sub-page workload and most visitors will miss a lot of the content. Adrian M. H. 21:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
