December 2023[edit]

Please stop attacking other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 22:47, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Attacking? You what? Have you seen his other edits? Look in the edit history. Don’t listen to me. Look for yourself. He wrote a whole paragraph, without evidence or sources, about an extremely controversial topic. He called children terrorists. Again, don’t listen to me. Look for yourself. I thought Wikipedia was a free platform, run by the community, but by what you’re saying, about me “attacking” other editors, then I guess not. You’re just another part of the government censorship. So what will you do? Let’s say I was a Russian guy saying “oh Finland are bad, we beat them in WW2, those clownish terrorists”, how would you react? (I don’t think this of Finns btw, just an example) You would delete the edits right away. I had a whole message written to reply to you, but I don’t think you are worth the time or effort, if you won’t even read his edits to get the full picture. Look at his previous edits. This website begs me for money, claiming it’s not for sale, but I can see now, it’s just another lie of “free speech”, yeah? I suggest you read his other edits before speaking to me again. Goodbye. If you check, he has now been topic banned for 90 days. You were warned because you attacked the editor not just the content. Wikipedia is free (in the sense of not charging money) to read. It is not a free speech zone. Editors (and admins) are expected to be polite even as they discuss removing abilities or reverting edits. You also walked into the minefield that is any article connected to the Arab-Israel conflict. Admins are very quick to enforce the rules including special ones that apply just to those articles (or articles in other minefield areas). Point out and document the errors or slanted reporting or unreliable sources and ask the editors that are able to to make the necessary changes or reversions. There are enough editors that watch these pages that someone will likely answer fairly quickly. Erp (talk) 01:57, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
