Hi, TheCuriousGnome. Thanks for your work on the article. I saw you templated the article. I'd like to let you know that the article is nominated for DYK, and I am not sure it could be promoted with such template. Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 04:35, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK. It's been removed. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 09:03, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please check DYK hook for the article, and if the hook is OK in your opinion, please feel free to promote it. Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 13:11, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Map + Skype[edit]

Hi TheCuriousGnome!

About the map, I'll have a look when time allows, which will hopefully be this week.

About Skype: I no longer use it because the newest version has a memory leak and in general the program is unstable and annoying (IMO ;)). Please contact me through one of the other options.

Removal of content[edit]

Hi, can you explain this edit at Itamar killings? Your comment says to cite the source. The source is of course cited throughout the article. Then what's the problem?—Biosketch (talk) 18:47, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This means that we must provide a reliable source quoting either the assailants themselves (for example, in a video they made prior to the attack) or the militant organization which claimed responsibility for the attack (in an official statement made by them to the press) clearly stating what was the original target of the attack. We must refrain from describing in this part with what we believe was the original target of the attack or describing the final result of the attack in the assumption that it really was the original target of the perpetrators. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 19:04, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.—Biosketch (talk) 19:11, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Friends hi.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Friends hi.svg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Pal templates[edit]

Our debate became quite heated - from my perspective, your deletion of my good faith work without trying to achieve consensus was very poor behaviour. I would have been fully justified in reacting in kind and deleting your work until you achieved consensus for the change, however I have restrained myself from reacting in the same way, as it will only take us on a downward spiral.

The intention of my work on this template was and remains to make the complex topic of Palestine easier for people to understand - I will explain more on the talk page. It was intended to be wholly uncontroversial, and I remain surprised you have reacted in this way - again I will explain further on the talk page.

As you said, we should let the community decide. The fair way to do this is to let people see both templates and then take it from there. I will arrange this by making sure both sets of links are on the pages - your actions replaced your template with mine, which given they are so different was the wrong way to go about things. Then the community can discuss. I hope we can continue to diffuse the tension here - let's work together to get the best possible outcome for wikipedia. Oncenawhile (talk) 14:24, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Canvassing[edit]

I'm sure you didn't mean to canvass when you posted at WT:ISRAEL with the title "POV template needs to be balanced or merged" and neglected to post any message at WT:PALESTINE. Just an oversight, I'm sure, not canvassing at all. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 06:44, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I posted the same meesage both on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Israel TheCuriousGnome (talk) 14:26, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1RR Violation[edit]

You have just violated WP:1RR on Template:Palestine topics. Please self revert immediately. Oncenawhile (talk) 21:15, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You behaviour appears to be deteriorating even further - I can't understand why. Please let's try to have a proper discussion - I agree with some of your points so let's find a way to move forward not backwards. Your posting the pages at WP:RPP immediately after being made aware of your 1RR violation was really poor behaviour, particularly because you did not highlight your RPP post on my user page or the template pages in question or anywhere else. Oncenawhile (talk) 23:34, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template wars[edit]

I don't know what you think you're doing, but canvassing and move warring isn't the right way to accomplish it. Have enough respect for your fellow editors to allow them to comment, and then abide by consensus. I'm reporting you to WP:ANEW because your behavior in this mess has been outrageous. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:39, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1RR[edit]

Malik Shabazz reported you on WP:AN/EW. Realize that there's a 1RR in effect on the page in question that was put into effect by the arbitration committee. Jasper Deng (talk) 02:59, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring on templates in the Israeli/Palestinian area[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.

The complete report of this case is at WP:AN3#User:TheCuriousGnome reported by User:Malik Shabazz (Result: 24h). As stated in the complaint, this was a page move war on a topic subject to 1RR. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 14:30, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Year in Israel/Mandate Palestine series - Births outside country[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you recently deleted an entry in the Births section of 1958 in Israel on the grounds that the person in question was born in the Soviet Union and not in Israel. I agree with the deletion. However, there are a large number of other persons listed in the Births section of the Year in the British Mandate of Palestine and the Year in Israel series who were born elsewhere. I believe that these too should be deleted. However, in view of the numbers involved, I felt it preferable to get your input on this issue. Davshul (talk) 23:42, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree with you - those people should be removed from the "Births" section in those articles. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 02:18, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As regards a person being removed, where a "Year in country" page has been created for the country in which such person was born, I believe that an appropriate entry should be made on that page, and I have stated gradually doing so (e.g. 1923 in Germany).
Also, consistent with a number of other "Year in country" series, I have started creating a link from the birth details on the "Year in the British Mandate of Palestine" (or elsewhere) page to the "Year in Israel" (or elsewhere) page of the year in which the person died, and vice-versa, where the appropriate pages have been created. Davshul (talk) 09:57, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 03:59, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of the region of Palestine[edit]

Hello, TheCuriousGnome. You have new messages at Oncenawhile's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The article Timeline of the region of Palestine has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unnecessary; duplicative of History of Palestine

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate in consensus process at Hamas school bus attack[edit]

Please stop making changes unilateral, undiscussed changes on a large scale to the Hamas school bus attack article, and participate in the talk page discussion to try to achieve a consensus-based article. You're experienced enough to know that circumventing the process of good-faith collaboration in controversial articles under ARBPIA constraints can't end well. I would be happy to have you join the discussion on the talk page; please reconsider your refusal to participate there. If you wish to reply to this request, you can do so here, as I've watchlisted this page temporarily, but I'd really prefer to keep discussion on the article talk page, insofar as possible. IAF Flight Academy[edit]

Hi TheCuriousGnome,

Good work on the flight academy article. I do think, however, that the title should be Israeli Air Force Flight Academy rather than IAF, to distinguish it from the Indian Air Force which is also commonly abbreviated to IAF. Also, the Notable Alumni section is problematic - who are you going to include? each and every IAF pilot with a wikipedia page? there must be dozens ... Poliocretes (talk) 13:41, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The name Israeli Air Force Flight Academy does seem more reasonable for the reason you just mentioned (please go ahead and make the change).
It is very acceptable and common to include notable alumni lists and/or categories to many of the academy institutions in Wikipedia. If there would be too many we could always created a referral from the Israeli Air Force Flight Academy page to an expanded page/category which would include all the notable alumni (mostly people with wikipedia pages or people whom are widely known and should have a wikipedia page). TheCuriousGnome (talk) 13:51, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Palestinian[edit]

The previous wikilink was to a disambiguation page. Links to disambiguation pages are usually not helpful to the reader and therefore undesirable. If you think linking to Palestinian people is better than linking to Palestine, that's fine, but either one is better than linking to the dab page.--Kubigula (talk) 23:35, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Nowadays, The word "Palestinian" does not refer to all the inhabitants of the historic region of Palestine but rather specifically only to the Arab inhabitants of of the historic region of Palestine whom refer to themselves as the Palestinian people. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 23:47, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you're right. I fixed most of the links to Palestinian by redirecting to Palestinian people, but there were some I was less sure about. It's a common problem when fixing these types of disambiguation links to try to determine if the intent was to link to the people or the country. So, I appreciate your insight.--Kubigula (talk) 04:35, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony Weiner photo scandal[edit]

Can we please stick to NPOV? Changing the head to "Denial and subsequent admission" [2] amounts to a POV attack in the article subhead. The facts speak well enough for themselves. The denial happened the same day as the posts, the admission ten days later. Not one incident. Let's not give the deletionists an excuse to AFD this article. I strongly suggest you revert your edit. It serves no wikipedia purpose, and in the end hurts the case. μηδείς (talk) 19:35, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom Flotilla II[edit]

Hello. I have just reverted four successive edits which had no edit summary and added unsourced material to the lead of this article.

  • The talk page header requests "clear and concise " edit summaries for each edit. It is much more difficult to sort out what has been done and why if there are lots of edits with no explanation.
  • Please only add content with reliable sources to this controversial article. The lead should be a summary of information presented in more detail in the article with sources, so it should not normally be necessary to have inline references in the lead, particularly the first para. So in this case it would be better to update the body of the article with sources and then summarise as necessary in the header.

No objection to this information going back in a suitable place and properly sourced, preferably with good edit summaries. --Mirokado (talk) 03:42, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out. I would make sure to follow those guidelines. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 03:44, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see there's life in the Hebrew FAOL page! I'm working right now to overhaul and consolidate the various translation wikiprojects, all of which are basically dead. Hopefully once I get the new infrastructure in good shape, I'll be doing a recruitment drive to find more translators. If you don't mind, I may be moving the Hebrew FAOL page to be a subpage of another wikiproject (I think I'm just going to use the Wikiproject Echo page for the new main translation wikiproject). If you wanted, we probably could have a bot generate a list of which pages are featured in he.wiki, along with whether they are linked via interwiki to en.wiki, and if so, whether the article is featured... Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:15, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds great. Please keep me updated on the bot. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 17:16, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Double redirects[edit]

Hello! When moving pages, please remember to fix any double redirects. These can create slow, unpleasant experiences for the reader, waste server resources, and make the navigational structure of the site confusing.
Because the article was renamed once before, this move caused a broken link to be displayed on the site's main page for more than two hours.

The article Netanya Market bombing has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I'm not seeing the continuing coverage that makes this pass WP:EVENT. No recent GNews hits, all GBooks mentions are trivial. It's just news.

TheCuriousGnome: Unfortunately I have to disappoint you about the knowledge part, in fact I only vaguely remember this attack. However, the sources already provided appear to have more information than the article, and I'll see if I can add anything. Also you may remove the PROD tag yourself if you want—this is perfectly normal. Proposed deletions are meant to be uncontested and if you contest the deletion, then it's fine to remove the tag. —Ynhockey (Talk) 17:17, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd Appreciate any assistance you can provide in the improvement of the content in this article. Thanks! TheCuriousGnome (talk) 17:26, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have added some content and did a partial cleanup, and will try to add more later. However, I noticed that you created another article today. While it's good that this article was created, please try to work on articles more before moving on to the next. The article about the market attack was written and sourced poorly (inline), and that's a shame considering you found so many relevant sources. Keep in mind, quality is better than quantity. —Ynhockey (Talk) 18:13, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a time issue. In many cases I simply find that I do not have the skills and/or abilities needed to bring these articles to perfection by myself. Therefore, If you see any specific problem that you think you could solve - I'd appreciate if contribute your time to help me get my work closer to perfection. Nomination of Netanya Market bombing for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Netanya Market bombing is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Netanya Market bombing until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Roscelese (talkcontribs) 21:16, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Movie spoofs[edit]

You're welcome. I think those '50s spoofs might have been written and drawn by the same person. For example, for "The Barefoot Nocountessa!" it's stated that it was "produced by" Jack Davis. Aquila89 (talk) 21:21, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure about that ? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 21:45, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure it says "produced by", but I only think that means he wrote it. Aquila89 (talk) 23:09, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tip. I'll try to find additional information/sources that could verify your claims. Say, what do you think of the collaborative project I proposed to complete the information in the article List of Mad's TV shows spoofs? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 23:59, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I can work on that, but what about the references? Are you sure that Gilford's site counts as a reliable source? Aquila89 (talk) 08:15, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately Mad Magazine still does not have theses lists on their official website. Nevertheless, since I own digital copies of all issues of Mad Magazine ever made I am constantly going over all the spoofed movies/TV shows lists here in Wikipedia and comparing them to the scanned content in my possession to verify that all the information which is presented here and in other web sites such as Gilford's website is indeed correct. Re: Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews[edit]

I honestly don't think this list is necessary. That makes splitting a moot point :) however, if you really want an opinion, I don't think that you can definitely determine for each person whether they are Sephardi or Mizrahi. I think it's possible that some identify as both. —Ynhockey (Talk) 18:41, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought so and that is why I made an article which combines both groups. Why do you think this list is unnecessary? I think that many users and readers would be quite happy to find it (especially the users/readers whom disliked the notable people chosen at the top of this article or the fact that the majority of Israelis in this list are Ashkenazi Jews). In my opinion, the main issue with such lists, stems from the fact that many Israeli Jews (from various groups) might have some emotional baggage related to pointing out the fact that a certain person originated from a certain Jewish Community, mainly due to various prejudice preconceptions prevalent in the Israeli public AND because it is deeply rooted in the Israeli public that it is necessary to create a melting pot and not focus on the ethnic background of the the various Israeli-Jewish residents. Anyway, in my opinion, this article is informative, does have a value, and is very similar to hundreds of other articles on the English Wikipedia. Nevertheless, I won't be surprised if someone in the future would attempt to get this article deleted, for the reasons I mentioned above. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 19:08, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ynhockey (talk · contribs) has a point. We're in a strange position here – many of the contributions we make to this Wikipedia wouldn't survive at he.wikipedia because of the critical standards there. I've found that to be the case with my own edits, and it's one of the reasons I rarely contribute there. This article is one such example. I'd bet the community at he.wikipedia would delete it as עדתי POV-pushing or something of that nature. And, oddly, while I think they'd have a valid case for a Wikipedia addressing a Hebrew-speaking audience, the same argument doesn't apply here where the audience is English-speaking. Ultimately, it's a matter of perspective. I give TheCuriousGnome (talk · contribs) props for the initiative and effort.—Biosketch (talk) 07:55, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Israeli Barnstar of National Merit
For your phenomenal contribution of original Israel-related content to Wikipedia.—Biosketch (talk) 07:55, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Biosketch. I'm glad you appreciate my contributions to the project. Chances are that an article such as List of Israeli Mizrahi Jews and Sephardi Jews would have been deleted on the Hebrew Wikipedia Hebrew within a few minutes from its creation due to their fairly strict policies regarding list based articles. I'm glad the policies on the English Wikipedia are not that rigid. Nevertheless, in my opinion, you should not rush to rule out the benefits of developing content on the Hebrew Wiki - In my opinion, the Hebrew Wikipedia, with all its imperfections, is the only wiki today which has the largest base of Hebrew speaking and Israeli oriented contributors and readers, and therefore, just like other popular online wikis that have a large base of contributors whom are experts in a specific field of knowledge (say for example the Star Wars wiki on wikia.com), the main advantage of the Hebrew wikipedia is that, in many cases, on the long run it would be capable of developing articles which would be much more extensive and detailed about topics related to Israel in comparison to the English wikipedia - Mainly because the majority of Israelis have a relatively low level of English that does not enable them to develop the content in the same extent in the English Wikipedia. Unilateral edits[edit]

CuriousGnome, please be careful with all the unilateral, mass editing you are doing, especially making unilateral page moves without any sort of discussion on the talk page.

Additionally, I appreciate some of the improvements you made to the Island of Peace massacre page but please properly format all references -- and is it really necessary to have an individual link to each of the victims? If so, please properly format the references and note that the pages are in Hebrew.

Thanks. Plot Spoiler (talk) 01:48, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I assume your request is mainly related to the name change of this article. Following your request I will suggest a name change to that specific article (since, in my opinion, the name "Passover massacre" is too vague) in the discussion page of that specific article and let the community determine what is the most appropriate name for that article. The main reason I decided to contribute such a large portion of information to these articles stem mainly from the fact that I was very disappointed to discover that most of the articles that cover the prominent attacks in Israel were in bad condition. The gap in the quality of these articles is especially evident when comparing the quality of the articles covering recent attacks in Israel compared to articles covering attacks in Israel which were committed in the early 2000s and/or the 1990s (this, in my opinion, suggests that nowadays a much larger amount of editors help expand and improve the quality of articles covering major current events, such as terror attacks in the Israel, than for example five years ago). Therefore, I decided that since many of these articles have been neglected long enough, I will help improve them by sharing my knowledge on the topic and writing and/or improving this series of important articles as much as I can. I'm am currently attempting to improve these articles substantially with maps, sources, small important details missing, adding new paragraphs and/or expanding existing paragraphs in all the articles in this series. I know this is not an easy task. I have been working on the improvement of these articles for a while now, one after another, many times going back and adding more information I forgot to add the first time around. I invite you to go through my contributions and and check their quality for yourself. If you would have any additional comments about any of my contributions, please bring them up. Can you take a look?[edit]

I noticed a new article called 2002 Hebron ambush which had terrible WP:NPOV problems. I fixed some of them, but you might want to take a look at this. Marokwitz (talk) 06:50, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Events[edit]

Off the top of my head, some of those seem familiar, while others do not. What I do know however is that grouping them under the title "Israeli–Palestinian conflict" is an anachronism. There was no such term as the Israeli–Palestinian conflict at the time. —Ynhockey (Talk) 21:31, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you suggesting that we refrain from using the term "Palestinians" in a large portion of this series of articles? (maybe the articles whom cover the period prior to 1967?) TheCuriousGnome (talk) 22:00, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It depends on the context. Usually the correct term to use is "Arab Palestinians" or "Palestinian Arabs", although simply "Palestinians" can be used in later years. It's up to us to decide whether it's relevant.
Regarding the specific additions, I might take a look later, but the general procedure is simple: A user inserts controversial info -> is it sourced? -> if yes, verify with the sources; if no, add citation needed tags -> if it remains unsourced for a while, remove the info. Alternatively, if the info is highly controversial, you can remove it outright because it's unsourced.
Ynhockey (Talk) 07:16, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Besides the fact that these sources are mostly books that are not available online (thus it is not easy to verify most of those claims), the main problem is that these books are retrospective secondary sources. With all due respect to Benny Morris, in my opinion these sources are not good enough to rely on for verification of the authenticity of these events/claims and/or for the verifiability of the notability of those events during the time of their occurrence. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 12:24, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Whyt I reverted you[edit]

If you are going to remove substantial RS you'll have to argue why that RS is inapplicable. Secondly, you apparently did not read the rationale behind the edits you contest. The previous text was full of WP:OR constructions which had no basis in the sources cited. Please pay attention to English usage, and be guided by sources. Your first sentence in the lead did not reflect the source I added, and which you retained. There are about 20 objections to the damage frivolous editing of this kind. Please do things by steps, so one can see what you are doing, and control that your edits follow the sources adduced. Do not write off the top of your head, as you did. Thank you Nishidani (talk) 19:06, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Look for God's sake stop fiddling with trivia, in the lead. That phrase on 'random acts of violence' comes from a formal definition of the phrase in a reliable sources. One can of 100 sources cherrypick anything. We have to write according to commonsense on what constitutes definitions. You've consistently do this, and only oblige editors to undertake far more work. Why don't you, for once, try and discuss a proposal on the article talk page. I see no evidence of an interest in doing this, but it is obligatory.Nishidani (talk) 20:36, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hi TheCuriousGnome, I'm posting this message on your talk page because I noticed that you've recently created the new article List of Israeli Druze--This image is real great. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: some of the article's Wikilinks are broken. And have a beautiful day! Cheers, Jipinghe (talk) 01:30, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to revert, identify the revert, and explain[edit]

This edit constitutes a revert, as you went back to this revision of the article (see this diff). Per WP:REVERT, you should identify the fact that you made a revert, and explain why you reverted. Yonideworst (talk) 20:37, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gilad Shalit prisoner swap deal[edit]

The prominent prisoners section needs a source. Otherwise its just original research. Plot Spoiler (talk) 01:48, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add them immediately. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 01:49, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good work. Would be appreciated if you could also clean up the formatting of the references you left. They're either improperly done or bare. I know it's tedious and annoying but I don't think others should be responsible. If you feel otherwise, that's understandable. Plot Spoiler (talk) 23:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You have bit more linkrot (lack of formatted references) to clean up in the section you created on the controversy among the Israeli public. I also have no idea what you were going for by making it appear that widows were for the release and widowers against it. You may some strange edits man. And it's also missing some sources. Plot Spoiler (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(widowers and widows) all it was, was one misused gender-neutral (and coincidentally, plural) pronoun in place of a gendered, singular one. Fixed. WillNess (talk) 08:47, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But actually, the source was specifically referring to "cries [mistranslated calls] from terror victim widows" (sic!) "to release" etc. You're probably unfamiliar with how Israeli media operate if you found that suspect. Think British tabloids. WillNess (talk) 11:33, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gilad Shalit and the Japanese conspiracy theorist[edit]

in reply to your post at Talk:Gilad_Shalit_prisoner_exchange#Unbiased list,

"I'm less interested in the baseless absurd conspiracy theory itself and more interested in the fact that a Japanese person from Akashi, Japan has raised this theory here. ..."

You're right in your analysis of course, But. I've heard this story, how the Japanese once presented Golda Meir (I think it was her) with the gift edition of the Protocols. They thought it was true, and wanted to express their admiration for it, or so the story goes. So there might be some genuine hard following for Hamas and the likes in Japan. If American students - not to mention European ones - can buy into the eliminationist "Free Palestine" myth en masse (no matter the PLO was founded in 1964), if "respectable" authors publish a book pushing the old antisemitic canards of "Jewish cabals" and stay respectable after that, if American Presidents talk about "contiguous Palestinian State", or how building a hundred new apartments in a 20 year old neighborhood constitutes grave violation of hopes for peace, with a straight face and not break out in uncontrollable hysterical laughter together with their audience, nothing surprises me anymore. WillNess (talk) 08:47, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you're trying to say – you are saying that there are quite a few anti-Semites around the world and therefore it doesn't surprise you that a random person from Akashi, Japan would write here such a baseless absurd conspiracy theory. Nevertheless, I must point out that many time before, we (the Wikipedia community at large) have seen employees of companies/corporations attempt to remove content they didn't like from the site or change the content of the site to fit their agenda - many times these people in their stupidity even made the edits from their work (in these cases we can sometimes prove that the edits were made by these organization because the IP number directs us to the IP range of a certain company). Due to many similar past events, The Wikipedia community is very suspicious of cases where employees of companies/corporations are trying to defame their opponents and/or glorify their names through Wikipedia. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 11:52, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course you're absolutely right there, and that's also the reason why I bothered you with my personal quips here and not on the article's talk page. :) Though I don't expect a random Japanese person to be a hardened delusional antisemite, but I'm sure that a few of those are there among them nevertheless. But I was not focusing on antisemitism (which is a too wide-spectrum a phenomenon BTW) but rather on the ability of human mind to invent the most preposterous stuff (that's also fine) and stick with it (that's not). Cheers, WillNess (talk) 13:07, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IDF report re 18 August attack[edit]

Hey, did you happen to read the report in Friday's Yedioth Aharonoth regarding the 2011 southern Israel cross-border attacks? I generally boycott the newspaper on principle, but someone gave me the מוסף לשבת section specifically to read that and it has a startlingly detailed account of what happened in the days leading up to the attack and in the attack itself. The problem is it's a lot of information to add to the article from just one source, which presumably most contributors to the page won't have any way of verifying since, as far as I can tell, it's only in the print edition. (I've tried searching around for תחקיר and פיגוע, but there's nothing recent about that attack.) Any suggestions? Should I just add the information and see what happens, or wait until more news sources discuss the IDF report?—Biosketch (talk) 10:46, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please scan the article and upload it to yfrog (or a similar website) - afterwards, send me a link to the scanned page/s and I'll follow the necessary steps to get this important source approved. It is very important to base all of our additions on available verifiable sources - if we don't, the risk is always that sooner or later someone would completely remove these important additions only because they were not sourced. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 12:04, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Link. It seems I forgot to save one of the scans, so only half of the computer graphic is there, but otherwise all the text is there and at a high enough resolution so it's easily readable. Now that I think about it, there's no reason not to cite the article directly with Template:Cite news given that the digital copy's accessible via the link. I'll help out with extracting the most vital information and the translation tomorrow, if you'll not have done so by the time I'm back at a computer. I'm kind of tired to start going through it again.—Biosketch (talk) 17:19, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Start working on it and I promise to go over everything when you're done and/or help you figure out any questions you might have. Good luck! TheCuriousGnome (talk) 21:27, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Forgotten article renaming[edit]

If you recall the 2011 Cairo Israeli embassy attack -> 2011 attack on the Israeli embassy in Egypt. It seems there are 3 in favor of the move (incl. you and me), while Cerejota's response is somehow unrelated, which can be interpreted as neutral. That is a move then. See here.Greyshark09 (talk) 17:23, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What do you need me to do exactly? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 04:01, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Close the discussion with "move" outcome (there is a clear majority) and make the move/rename to the new title "2011 attack on the Israeli embassy in Egypt".Greyshark09 (talk) 16:20, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you need me to do that? Can't you do it yourself? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 16:31, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Usually, uninvolved editor or administrator is preferred to close such discussion, second priority is the one who proposed it (you), and third is an editor involved in discussion (voting). Since you retire, i will close it - no problem.Greyshark09 (talk) 17:10, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Curious, I don't really see the point for map in the the article. It wasn't a military attack - it was a raid by a bunch of state-sponsored demonstrators. I don't want to edit war over this point but I really think the map has no added value. Having a dot on Tehran on a big map of Iran really shows nothing. Plot Spoiler (talk) 18:21, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contacting me instead of edit warring. I understand your position, nevertheless, it is customary to add maps to the infoboxs of all articles about attacks (even if no terror organization carried them out). Although the current map is not a highly detailed one with streets it still is big enough for the readers to get an understanding where the attack was carried out within Tehran. If you have a better map of Tehran, please provide it and I will replace the current map. Either way, if you still insist on removing all maps from the article, please get a consensus for the removal of the map in the discussion page. Do you read Arabic?[edit]

How do you know what File:Decree signed by Ottoman Sultan.jpg says? The source does not describe the document content? Chesdovi (talk) 20:01, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a very popular image on the Arabic part of the web. It exists amongst others in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict article on the Arabic Wikipedia as well as many pro-Palestinian propaganda web sites. I am sure that we would be able to locate someone on Wikipedia that would be able to help translate the document to English. You can see for yourself that it is authentic by checking this page in the Turkish virtual Museum of Architecture website. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 08:05, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Yes the text is Ottoman. But I'm not able to translate it for now because of the fact that I'm not familiar with the words used in it. They're too technical and royal. And the letters are written in a different way since it's in "ferman" form and this makes it hard for me too. I will try to make some of my professors work on the image and decipher it. User:TheCuriousGnome, can you tell if גבעת בית הכרם is the name of an actual neighborhood or just the name of a street? Google searches in English aren't encouraging that there's anything notable about גבעת בית הכרם, irrespective of whether it's the name of a street or of a community. There's this list of neighborhoods designated for historical preservation by the Jerusalem municipality, but there גבעת בית הכרם only appears as the name of a street in the בית הכרם neighborhood.—Biosketch (talk) 09:34, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli election template[edit]

Well done for creating this template - the standard election boxes are clearly unsuitable for Israeli elections. I have a couple of suggestions to improve it though:

  1. Have the votes column before the Mandates one (as seats are dependent on votes)
  2. Rename "Chairman" to "Leader" as this is the more common English word
  3. Rename "Mandates" to "Seats" as this is the common English word
  4. Have a separate column for the change in seats (as fitting this into the same column looks a bit odd due to the different number of characters needed).

Cheers, Number 57 10:58, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with all your comments except for the comment about changing "Chairman" to "Leader" (the word "leader" is too presumptuous in my opinion and besides "Chairman" (יושב ראש הרשימה) is the word which is commonly used). Either way, please make the changes you think are necessary and we'll discuss them later. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 14:38, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how to make the changes I'm afraid, so could you make them?. I'm not sure why you think "Leader" is presumptuous. "Chairman" is an ambiguous phrase in English - for instance their chairman of many parties in the UK is not the actual political leader, but is more of a figurehead (as Ovadia Yosef is for Shas). Number 57 14:56, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you are afraid of doing the changes to the actual template then please send me a drawn sketch of the optimal way you think this template should look like and I'll attempt to implement your suggestions (I am saying this because I am not sure entirely how you visioned your fourth suggestion should actually be implemented).
Regarding changing "Chairman" to "Leader" - unlike the Direct election system (which exists in the United States and which existed in Israel during the late 1990s and early 2000s but was then canceled), in the actual current system in use, which has existed during most of Israel's history, voters vote for a party and not for a particular person in the party (some parties have primaries in which they elect the Chairman of the party, in other parties a "Party Center" elects the Chairman of the party, and in the Ultra-Orthodox parties the Chairman of the party is determined by their spiritual leaders). What I am trying to say is that the Chairman of the party has a secondary role in the Israeli electoral system and therefore they are not commonly referred to as "Leaders" (This is why currently the party name appears before the name of the chairman in the template itself). TheCuriousGnome (talk) 15:44, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Basically something like the below (I also thought addding % might be a good idea to give the vote number some context). Number 57 15:56, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Party Leader Votes % Seats Change
Kadima Tzipi Livni 758,032 22.5 28 1
OK. Let me see what I can do about it. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 19:30, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think of it now? (See the template in the article Israeli legislative election, 2009) TheCuriousGnome (talk) 19:59, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Much better, although the text in the results section should probably be made smaller, and the vote and %s right-aligned. As an aside, the future election article should be at Next Israeli legislative election - this is the standard format for election article for which the date is not set yet (for all we know it could be this year) - see for example Next Irish general election. Number 57 20:38, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see, although in my opinion I would much rather use the name Elections for the 19th Knesset (by the way, is the name going to be changed to Israeli legislative election, 2013 on January 2013?).
Yes, as there would be no other possible year for the election. Number 57 23:08, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So you think the whole template should use a smaller size for the font OR only use a smaller font for a certain part of the table? What size should that be? Why do you think it is essential to align the data to the right? (I was thinking of aligning those columns you mentioned to the center) TheCuriousGnome (talk) 20:49, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Only the results section should be in reduced size text, the heading is fine. If you look at Infobox election or Infobox political party (see the Kadima example), the text in the infobox is smaller, and more compact, which I think makes the combination easier to read separately (if that makes sense). Regarding the alignment, it is just standard for numbered columns to be right aligned and text columns are left-aligned. Number 57 23:08, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And what do you think of it now? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 04:11, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Very good.
I have restored the original layout of {{Israeli elections}} - this is one of a set of hundreds of templates with a standard layout (e.g. different rows for election types), but have fixed the links to your combined articles. I would also suggest that the 1996 and 1999 election articles be renamed "general election" as this is standard for an election in which more than one type of election occurs snd slightly less awkward than "prime ministerial and legislative". Number 57 06:05, 30 January 2012 (UTC) Number 57 06:03, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be a mistake to leave these articles separate only because some articles about elections in other countries have such a separation. In my opinion in this case this separation is unnecessary, confusing and redundant. Please express your opinion on this matter here and here.TheCuriousGnome (talk) 06:44, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I confused you - I do support merging the articles (even though I believe I was the one that created them as separate ones originally), I just think the merged ones should be entitled "general election". If you're happy with that, I can do a full history merge of the pages. Number 57 08:28, 30 January 2012 (UTC)0[reply]
Please do perform the merge in the way you think would be the optimal. We could always discuss and reach a consensus over various issues/differences later on. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 08:43, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I have merged the articles. One more request - please use the international date format - Day Month Year - rather than the American format of Month Day, Year. Cheers, Number 57 09:40, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. Please express your opinion on our differences of opinion regarding tempalte:Israeli elections here. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 14:19, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Have done. I have also removed the word "Election" from the "Election results" headings in the article, as it somewhat redundant (see e.g. United Kingdom general election, 2010). Number 57 15:15, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This freaked me out at first, but I kinda like it. Is there anyway we can put a white border around it so it doesn't clash with text? And feel free to do the rest of the articles when you get the chance. Or Ill do some.

EDIT: Man you are off the hook. Great job on the Next election also, although I don't really like how the infobox looks. We know three of the party leaders now (Netanyahu, Yachimovich, and Lieberman).--Metallurgist (talk) 06:57, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hot 100 by decade lists[edit]

You should have waited until the deletion review had run its course before creating even more lists. Most likely all these lists will be taken to AfD to get a final resolution to these redundnants lists. I'm not favoring one way or the other, but there is no need for both. You should really try to discuss these with Wikipedia:WikiProject Record Charts or at WT:CHARTS to come up with a consensus. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 01:25, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why should I have waited? Is there any specific rule that prevents me from continuing to develop existing articles while discussions and AfDs are held? If there is such a rule, please refer me to it. As you probably remember, these articles have changed significantly from the way they initially looked. Their improvement was achieved thanks to the feedback I got from other Wikipedians (including yourself) while creating them. This, in my opinion, is the essence of achieving consensus on Wikipedia. I agree that the danger is always that my work would have been in vain if the community would decide to vote for their deletion. Nevertheless, I do intend to finish my work on this series of articles as soon as possible so that when the voting would be held the next time around the Wikipedians taking part in the AfD would express their opinion based on the articles' optimal versions (and not having a voting based on the half-baked versions which would only justify their removal). Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely discuss the articles in the sections you mentioned. In any case, I suggest we wait and see what the community has to say about the articles. • Hi, I have no problem in giving you some assistance. For the UK charts, we have decided that articles for individual years are not needed, whereas there seem to be too many articles for the US charts. Its difficult to get the others deleted though because some are featured lists. We don't really need List of 2012 number one singles, just an article for the 2010s. I originally wanted individual year lists for the UK as well as the compilation lists, but feel decade lists present the data more effectively. The year list data could be added to and referenced in 2012 in American music. 03md 03:43, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

nice job you have done on this template. Unfortunately, you have linked to Church of the Annunciation. I'm glad you liked my latest addition to the article. There is still a lot more information which needs to be translated from the corresponding article in the Hebrew Wikipedia. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 13:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so thats what you are doing. Great! I unfortunately don't know enough Hebrew to translate, otherwise I would help. I can probably add polls, since I know the party names and such, but beyond that... That Haaretz poll blew my mind. Likud is just steaming away, although the election is as much as 19 months away.--Metallurgist (talk) 17:26, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would love to see a graphic representation of the pools in the article - something like this.. or this.. Maybe you would be capable of creating that based on the data currently presented in the article? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 17:42, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How did you make the graph? Also, I cant find a complete version of the recent Panels poll, although I didn't go digging in Hebrew yet.--Metallurgist (talk) 21:22, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I created the graph using Open Office and based it on the polling data in that currently appears in the article (you can also create the same graph using Excel). I couldn't find the complete version of the recent Panels poll. sorry. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 01:40, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok. I have OpenOffice as well. I tried Google Docs, but it came out horrible. Ill probably remake it soon, especially now with Mofaz being the Kadima leader. On that note, see this discussion. (I also reformatted our talk here to make it easier to read...I hope.--Metallurgist (talk) 16:27, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you do not really know how to make graphs in OpenOffice or in Excel I suggest that your refrain from making them. I promise to update the graph every once in a while. This article is expected to be especially popular in the following year or two and therefore I can assure you that even if we both would stop to updating it, sooner or later other editors who specialize in the subject would most likely expand the article tremendously and create much better and more complex graphs. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 20:43, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know how to make graphs. It just didn't come out correctly in Google Docs. I will try it in Open Office shortly. Do you live in Israel?--Metallurgist (talk) 21:36, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. Well in that case I think that in addition to creating and uploading the graphs in image files, we should also share the updated basic OpenOffice.org Calc spreadsheet file (which the visual graph is based on) somewhere on the Wikimedia servers if possible or elsewhere on the web, for us (or anyone else working on this graph) to be able to easily and quickly make updated improved graphs in the future. P.S - I rather not expose any personal information. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 06:35, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I dont think the servers can accept spreadsheets. However, we could put it on Google Docs. And ok thats fine. Also I replied on my page.--Metallurgist (talk) 18:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be essential to keep the spreadsheet stored somewhere because it doesn't make sense that anyone whom would want to improve the chart or update it would be forced to rebuild the spreadsheet (and while doing so maybe by mistake make it inconsistent with the former chart). We should confront the Wikicommons contributors in their chat room on Freenode and maybe they would have some good suggestions regarding this issue. South Lebanon[edit]

I'm currently working on Palestinian insurgency in South Lebanon article, where you are welcome to contribute. In the past i noticed your have removed the campaignbox with relevant events, though i have recently reedited it to include also the abroad terror activities of the Lebanese based militias - i think it is now much more balanced and shows the linkage between the Palestinian raids and terror attacks and Israeli counter-raids.Greyshark09 (talk) 10:45, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Next election[edit]

Do you think this article is worth mentioning in the article? It says that ministers are threatening to bring down the government.--Metallurgist (talk) 01:02, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not as far as I know as of yet. P.S - Arutz Sheva is like Israel's Fox News. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 03:36, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While stalking your edits recently I happened upon a contribution of yours at Mishneh Halachos. Is there a compelling reason this entire article deviates from the standard conventions of Hebrew orthography in favor of the Western-exilic convention?—Biosketch (talk) 09:02, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, I cannot answer this question. Please discuss this issue with the original author. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 16:40, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's great![edit]

I'm really happy you contacted me. I'm one of those older editors that never even knew how to type much less use a computer until about 12 years ago! I've uploaded I don't even know how many photos for the musicians' biogaphies. For now, I have a tiny gallery of photos I like, on my user page, that I rotate for a change of pace, but next to them is a link to a list of all the pages that have photos I uploaded. Some still have watermarks on them, or need the artistic touch that you certainly have! Feel free to browse through them. The list isn't even up to date, and some aren't alphabetized properly. I get busy, and just toss them in there. But, of the images I did upload, some are group photos that need to be cropped so that just one musician can be placed in an infobox; that kind of thing. If I can help you, just ask! What are you most interested in doing? If there are projects you think about doing, perhaps we can work together. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:08, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Thank you for your great contribution to Wikipedia! are you a musician yourself? What music and musicians mostly interest you?
I'd be more than happy to help fix these images. Altough I would need your help preparing a list which would include only links to the images you think need fixing and which include your notes regarding what specific changes need to be done. What do you think ? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 04:23, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ooops. I would have answered before, but didn't see your response. FYI--Normally people respond back on my talk page. I'll start looking through my uploads, but also I run into many other pics that need enhancing, cropping, clarifying, lightening, and removal of watermarks. Offhand though, on the James Blunt article, look closely, and the second photo there has a watermark that needs removing, and the frame around Peter Buck in the infobox needs removal. Thanks! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 05:40, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hei, do you want me to tech you how to do it by yourself? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 06:23, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
At another time, that would be nice. But right now, I'm so busy; I have been very sick, my computer isn't reliable, and also, I've developed a connection with photographers who now know me and understand the Creative Commons licenses, which makes obtaining and uploading photos much quicker than if I branch off in another area right now. Some pics need to be cropped, some need retouching, some need frames & watermarks removed, or lightened. If you don't want to do any of these things now, please let me know on my talk page! I have a list of photos that need attention. Thus far, I see nobody has worked on either the James Blunt photo that is here; [3] still has the watermark I mentioned, and this of Peter Buck: [4] still hasn't been touched, so I'm reluctant to create a list of photos that need help. It's OK if you don't want to do it, but please let me know either way, OK? Thanks! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:23, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Teddy Kollek[edit]

I'm afraid the only way to save the picture is if someone proves that it was taken in or before 1961. Otherwise it's clearly a copyright violation. —Ynhockey (Talk) 06:39, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OIK --about those photos[edit]

Thanks for the suggestion and the offer of help. In many cases I do ask others here on Wikipedia to help (and two of them went on to become Admins here, so I'm happy about that), but when I can get around to it I promise to make a list. By the way, if you could ask around anyone who might want to assist in any form of fixing the pictures, please do-- there are by far enough to go around that need help! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 10:15, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Works For ME! I'll call this our "List", placing the pictures in sections depending upon what kind of work they need in one of my sandboxes here on en.Wikipedia. I never really understood Commons, but all my uploaded images have Creative Commons licenses of CC-BY-SA or CC-BY. Here is where I am beginning the list: User:Leahtwosaints/Sandbox 2 As I come across others needing help I'll add them too.. Thank you! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 00:04, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are so many photos needing help-- and I assume it will be a work in progress since I keep finding other photos that I did not upload myself. But if you take a look in my "Sandbox # 2" : User:Leahtwosaints/Sandbox 2 you can see what is needed; and I can keep adding photos I find as I plod along. I don't intend to upload any new pics needing attention anymore. What do you think? You see, I've uploaded over 1,700 photos in use! So, if you are looking over those little 25 photos on my userpage, those are not the ones which need altering in some way. But if you don't want to do this, you can back out. No harm done. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:25, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Racist demonstrations in Israel[edit]

I'm sorry, but this edit, and comment are unacceptable. The Guardian article is a reputable source. I am not anti-Jewish or anti-Israel, but it is impossible to distinguish this activity from Klu Klux Klan activity in the United States on any rational basis. User:Fred Bauder Talk 12:57, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fred. First of all I want to thank you for choosing to contact me in my talk page instead of edit warring. The wording in Wikipedia must be objective, non-biased and encyclopedic. We must be extremely careful in wording sentences - sometime we need to reword sentences which use a more inflammatory or biased tone in the sources. Either way, because you claim I'm wrong on this issue, and that this segment was objectively worded, please open a discussion on the matter in the article's talk page and hopefully after a productive and civil discussion would be held on the matter, all parties involved in the discussion would decide together whether to restore the whole segment as it was originally written to the article, or if we would partially reword it, or if we would refrain from re-adding it. Thank you again for your cooperation on this matter. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 13:25, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar note[edit]

Hi TheCuriousGnome,

I noticed a recurring trend in your articles that you often used "whom" in the place of "who". Not sure if this is intentional, but please keep the correct usage in mind. Here is an example of a recent correction I made to illustrate the problem.

Two more examples: [5], [6]

Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 15:00, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a native English speaker and therefore occasionally, and especially when it is quite late and I am a bit tired, I might leave some grammar mistakes around, although I must state that I am always trying my best not to leave any mistakes. Nevertheless, this is a very basic mistake which I should definitely refrain from doing. Either way, thanks for bringing this repeated mistake I made to my attention. Sorry, I got caught up in this on-going AfD and dispute with Nableezy. I'm going to edit your sandbox a bit more now.

Once again, I apologize for the inconveniance. --Activism1234 21:12, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
