Fram[edit]

Until the WMF overturns its unexplained one-year ban, I'm sitting down. For the sake of the encyclopedia on which so many rely, please join me. The Trust & Safety Committee has, ironically, lost my trust. Miniapolis 00:49, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm just drilling down into this sh*tstorm; I'm not sure what to make of it yet. I've never interacted with Fram and I'm not a fan of his communication style, but I feel disquiet that the WMF feels it necessary to ignore this project's internal processes and issue bans instead of raising problems regarding that editor with members of the community and the Arbcom. I won't be doing any copy-editing today; maybe the Guild stuff can wait too. Baffle☿gab 03:00, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're right about Fram; he's not a model editor, but he's a definite net positive and this weird sanction is out of all proportion to his offense(s). Apparently there's a massive COI which stinks to high heaven involving the WMF and an editor with whom Fram has had disputes. I usually don't bother with Wikipediocracy, but may stop by there today after I get done with the blitz list in my sandbox and create the page (unless someone bests me to the latter); then Jonesey or I (or anyone else who has the mass-message-sender flag—I forget who) can send out the June bulletin and update the ombox. Ironically, WPC may be more transparent about this issue (if for no other reason then their perennial axe to grind ) than WP. I'm going to run out the clock as lead coordinator, but this has been a real eye-opener. Thanks for all your help. Stay sane and all the best, Miniapolis 14:32, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad to see this has happened and hope it will be a start to heal the damage done to the Wikipedia community. I'm glad you're still here too; thank you for staying. ;) Baffle☿gab 00:51, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Baffle, I was glad to see it too and appreciate your staying around as well. It'll be a while (if ever) before I regain my previous enthusiasm, but old habits die hard . Still not doing any adminny stuff, though; there are two overwhelmingly-passing RfAs, so I don't think my filespace-backlog work will be missed. Enjoy the weekend and all the best, Miniapolis 02:06, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's good to see some successful RFAs happening, especially at this time, and you deserve a break anyway. I'm less active this time of year anyway... who wants to sit in front of a screen when they can be sitting in the Hall of Fame garden with a good book and a nice, long drink? :) Take care and cheers, Baffle☿gab 16:50, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
