Hi,

You reverted the EL user talk:Stronglifts made, the EL. I was uncertain about the link but decided to let it stand, mostly 'cause I could't think of a good reason. I'm not contesting your deletion, I'd just like to be able to give people a firmer reason than 'it's just wrong'. I can't say I'm an experienced enough contributor to be confident enough to do what you did (kudos BTW).

I kinda thought about it for a while before reverting. But when I went to see what contributions this editor had made, all his edits were surrounding that blog. It was suspicious of linkspam, so I placed the warnings on his talk page, and if you take a look, you'll see what I said to him. (here) Had he done other edits that did not surround this blog (which I can only assume is his/her personal blog) I would not have reverted it. I was part of a discussion where someone did something exactly similar a few months ago, and the consensus was to revert it. Maniwar,

I've took the time to read the rules of wikipedia for posting external links. I would like you to consider this:

  • Injuries in weight training/strength training are always caused by incorrect form/technique
  • The Wikipedia articles about the deadlift/military press/clean and press give little/no information to users about technique/good form/...
  • The value of the external links to the articles I've listed is that it gives users more information on the correct technique/tips of the lifts.

About the linkspam:

  • Yes I linked freely to my blog.
  • I invite you to read the articles I've put external links to: tell me if they add value to Wikipedia readers or not.

Please don't make decisions based on a consensus, but on what is best for the Wikipedia Community.

I'm a little concerned that your only contributions are to your blog. This reaks of linkspam and I'm sure other editors will revert your edits as well. But, here is my suggestion, go to one of the more busy articles you wish to place the link at and ask on the talk page what the editors think about you adding it. If they go for it, then you may get away with it. But honestly, don't be suprised if it is reverted. I think if you contribute more to Wiki than just linking to your blog, other editors may see you as truly willing to contribute, and not just doing linkspam. Hope that helps, if not, let me know. Edit summaries

Can you tell me what "policy concerns" are addressed by this edit? To me, it looks like you're simply reverting to a version you personally like, as you have done previously (such as here and here). You often use this same boilerplate edit summary for removal of vandalism and non-vandalism alike, which is not a good idea. It's really not a very helpful edit summary anyway: if someone's edits really do violate policy, a link to a list of all our policies is not going to help clear things up for them. And if their edits don't violate policy (as seems to be the case here) it's not good to say they do. On the other hand, if a person's edits are clearly not in good faith (such as this one), you don't need to pretend they are. Nobody will accuse of you of wrongdoing for calling that vandalism. But posting the same message to vandals and legitimate editors makes it confusing. Something to think about.

Hi Kafziel, I didn't take it as a warning or a notice, but I will answer your questions. I, following wikipedia, try to assume good faith in almost all the edits. However, because I use Twinkle to do my reverts, it automatically places the template warning in there. If need be, I will try going to the individuals user page and further explain there. Perhaps I could do a better job at that. As for the Dannielynn Birkhead paternity case revert, there has been an ongoing discussion on that article, and the compromise we came up with was the one entered, thus my revert. The other two edits you pointed out is an ongoing debate, and I do not wish to address those here, you can find the dicussion on the talk page of Dannielynn Birkhead paternity case, but those analogies were not good ones. I get your point, but those two edits have been part and is part of an ongoing discussion, thus I don't agree with your charge pertaining them. I will try to do more as far as the edit summaries, but as mentioned, because I use Twinkle, my edit summaries are already done and pre-stamped. I did look at the talk page, but I don't see where the phrase "née Stern" was discussed, let alone agreed upon. Also, the discussion isn't exactly "ongoing"; there hasn't been a relevant post on the talk page in weeks. It's fine that you reverted the change (as long as it doesn't turn into an edit war) but you shouldn't imply that the anon violated any policy; he was just being bold, might not have been aware of past discussions, isn't beholden to past discussions even if he was aware of them, and probably deserves a better explanation for the revert. But, as I said, it's just something to consider and I cerainly don't want to belabor the point. Thanks for being receptive, and happy editing! Kafziel Talk 23:54, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

3ABN revert

Good evening Maniwar,

This afternoon I made an edit to the 3ABN page which you reverted to the version prior to my edits. In my edits I attempted to remove speculative portions that had no citations as well as clarifying the "Controversy" section so that it more accurately reflects the fact that the information contained there is the speculative allegations (lacking significant support) of a very small group of disgruntled former employees.

The section about the controversies covers issues that are currently being dealt with in the court systems and no definitive information is available on any of the issues. The Shelton's marital settlement case is still pending, 3ABN has appealed a case with the State of Illinois in regards to their tax exempt status, and all of the other issues are sealed in a case filed in early May. The entire section can not be supported at all with any independent third party sources until all cases are settled - therefore it is all speculative and the section is based on the hearsay commentary at blacksda.com and save3abn.com. There is no independent outside source to use for any citation.

I am curious why you reverted my additions and edits.

Fair questions. Couple things, this is an encyclopedia and therefore it is fine to leave the supposed charges in the encyclopedia. I've gone in and tried to reword it so that it reads allegedly, rather than factually. However, what you can do is start a section called Responses to criticism and in that section, refute the charges. I am trying to clean it up more, but it cannot be entirely removed.
