I just saw this new article. A few notes:

  • A prior version was sent to AfD in 2020. (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KANM (radio station))
  • I am skeptical that "KBCS" was a broadcast station or that the story is true. For one, by 1973, the present KBCS in Washington state existed, and I can't find any evidence in publications of the period that TAMU had applied for another FM. I would put this fable into a footnote as it is clearly factually incorrect.
  • "broadcast on 107.5 FM" and "in collaboration with a local cable company" go together to indicate this was on the FM portion of a cable system. Indeed, it was.[1] This is the story that should be told.
  • I am expecting in the coming weeks the rest of The Eagle (Newspapers.com goes up to 1978) to become available based on the addition of other McClatchy papers. This could be very useful in setting the record straight. Do you know if A&M's student paper is digitized and searchable, by any chance?

Hello Sammi!
Firstly, I'd like to express my deep appreciation for the dedication you've shown in delving into this. Your commitment to ensuring accuracy and depth is evident, and it strengthens the collaboration we're trying to nurture here.
To address your comments in detail:
  • A prior version was sent to AfD in 2020. I am currently associated with this organization, and it has come to my attention that there was indeed a KANM page that was deleted previously. My knowledge of that version's content and caliber is limited since my association post-dates its existence. Still, my goal has always been to write a version that aligns well with Wikipedia's standards. Should there be areas of improvement, I genuinely hope you'll provide guidance.
  • I am skeptical that "KBCS" was a broadcast station or that the story is true... Such skepticism is shared by many within our organization. KANM, unfortunately, hasn't had a robust system for archiving its past. This has meant our understanding of our own history is, at times, fragmented, having been passed down through generations of members. I'll place this narrative in a footnote for clarity and transparency.
  • "broadcast on 107.5 FM" and "in collaboration with a local cable company" go together to indicate this was on the FM portion of a cable system... Your insight here is particularly enlightening. The data you've shared promises to clear up a longstanding ambiguity for us at KANM. The team is genuinely grateful, and we're buzzing with excitement about what this might mean for our historical understanding. I plan to integrate this insight so that our narrative more accurately mirrors the organization's true beginnings.
  • ...Do you know if A&M's student paper is digitized and searchable, by any chance? Our student paper is the The Battalion, and its comprehensive digital archive can be browsed [1]here. It is also fully searchable. Your nudge in this direction has been incredibly helpful, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I hadn't stumbled upon it earlier. Thank you for shining a light on this valuable resource.
Your involvement has been extremely important in refining our approach and the content we present. Looking forward to further interactions and thank you once again for your invaluable insights! Joeyquism (talk) 23:27, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you'd like to potentially collaborate on this article, I would be happy to do so. Feel free to shoot me a message, and I'd be very glad to discuss! Joeyquism (talk) 23:31, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
