College soccer seasons[edit]
I rarely see college soccer seasons generally get the level of coverage required by GNG, which outweighs NSEASONS - but, as with all things, there are exceptions. GiantSnowman 17:50, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
2021 SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer team[edit]
I just spent five weeks (yes, 35 days) in the hospital. I was unable to work on 2021 SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer team (or anything else) during that time. I went to the page to update and discovered that you had replaced the entire article of nearly 18,700 characters with a redirect , apparently without making any effort to discover why the page was idle. I have been unable to revert your work, so please return the page to its form before you did anything to it. GWFrog (talk) 00:44, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GWFrog:, I'm am saddened to hear of your health issues and I hope you're doing well since then. I'm not sure what you're referring to re: "...without making any effort to discover why the page was idle," as this is an irrelevant point. Per WP:NSEASONS and WP:TOOSOON, I interpret this as unworthy of a stand-alone article at this stage. ACC MSOC season articles[edit]
Hi GauchoDude, I have reverted your redirects for all the 2021 ACC soccer seasons. The ACC is widely seen as an elite college soccer conference and nearly all the programs, if not all of them are considered the most elite collegiate soccer programs, meeting the following in GNG and NSEASONS:
"For programs considered elite in a sport (for example, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, in men's basketball; Tennessee and UConn in women's basketball; Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC in football, etc.) many or all seasons might be notable regardless of the outcome (the amount written by reliable sources on a weekly basis for some of these programs is enough that almost anything or anyone having any relation to them is likely to meet the General Notability Guideline)."
This is especially true with Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest. Beyond that, programs such as Virginia Tech, NC State, Boston College, and Pitt have shown recent success that could manage to pass NSEASONS. Furthermore, these programs have achieved national rankings across all major selectors which would satisfy the elite requirement of NSEASONS. Quidster4040 (talk)
- @Quidster4040: While I understand you have quite an interest in collegiate soccer, as do I, I disagree that these articles meet WP:NSEASONS and that we are WP:TOOSOON, hence the redirects. While, in your opinion, the teams listed are "elite in a sport", that is just one bullet point to consider. Prior to sharing those guidelines/examples as you reference above, WP:NSEASONS prefaces with "For college sports teams, weigh both the season itself and the sport..." and while I'm sure both of us would love to see collegiate soccer much more highly regarded, in my opinion it's not there yet – both as it relates to collegiate sports landscape as well as the soccer landscape in totality. - @BillVol: Yes, I saw that as the source listed. Upon further exam, I was unable to find any corroborating sources. As such since this is a WP:BLP, I decided to err on the side of caution using WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE as guidance. Notables need sources and a connection to a place other than as place of death[edit]
You added Frank Safanda here as a notable for the article for Nutley, New Jersey and Roy E. Moore here as a notable in Rahway, New Jersey. Both were added without sources and both appear to have no connection to the places other than dying in these places, so they have been removed from these articles.
