Very Berry Belated[edit]

Thanks for granting me rollback rights... that was four years ago *cough*cough* (sorry for not mentioning it sooner); I was/am at a major hiatus from Wikipedia- I must confess I'm wary of coming back; still afraid of its potentially addictive quality— I can't help but notice you're a wikijunkie ;)Rosa 08:38, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Rosameliamartinez! :D You're very welcome for rollback...even if I did grant you the right years ago! I hope you will choose to edit more; in all fairness, my recent high amount of activity is because I currently have a little more time to edit: however, I'd rather not edit at the activity rate I had years ago! ;) It was good to receive a message from you. Best. Acalamari 18:05, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

For undoing the vandalism/personal attacks on my talkpage and for blocking the user. I have absolutely no idea why they chose to attack me: unfortunately them creating that account just to attack me gave me no clue as to how we came across each other before. I suppose I should get used to that...again. :). Thanks again. AngelOfSadness talk 21:35, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect they were a member of your fanclub and were just showing their appreciation for you. :) Acalamari 21:57, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What a bizarre fanclub I have then :p. Shame none of them realise they're wasting their time trying to insult me as I've heard it all before from the same sort of people and they'll end up blocked because of it. I don't know why they bother especially when I can't figure out what they're annoyed at me about. Anyway back I go to CAT:CSD :) AngelOfSadness talk 22:11, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
:D Acalamari 22:25, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A million thanks...[edit]

... for blocking this user. If he was in front of my eyes, I could have killed him. :D Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:06, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

For the rollback rights. Now I'll have to discover what they are useful for. Nadiatalent (talk) 17:16, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear Acalamari,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 18:04, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I put my name down. Contact via e-mail is my choice. Acalamari 18:58, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a respected administrator friend of mine, I hope to draw your attention to the edit dispute currently going on at List of tallest buildings in the world (history), in particular User talk:114.229.251.187's behaviour in this dispute. Deryck C. 22:10, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deryck, it looks like Ks0stm has already blocked the IP. Acalamari 23:04, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:D34throse Darklight[edit]

Could you block him the next time he puts his personal opinion piece onto Power Rangers Samurai (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), again? He put it on the article as soon as his block expired, today.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:54, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm about to go offline for the night, but yes, next time he does it, he will be blocked. Acalamari 23:59, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please explain why you and Ryulong consider the following as personal opinion when I added it to Power Rangers Samurai, as anyone who watches the show can see it is a fact not a personal opininion.:
"Strangely enough for a group of samurai, they are all basically gaijin even their sensei/shogun is portrayed by a New Zealander, for none of them are full blooded Japan-born Japanese." — Preceding unsigned comment added by D34throse Darklight (talkcontribs) 13:46, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I only came to the article from your vandalism of Ryulong's user page, as it is not an article I watch. There are several reason why it is inappropriate: 1. "Strangely enough" is POV wording, and therefore not appropriate for an encyclopedia. 2. As far as I am aware, "gaijin" is an offensive term, and while Wikipedia is not censored, there is no need to include the term just for the sake of it. 3. There are no sources provided to say whether or not this issue with the show has even been highlighted someplace else other than your edit. 4. As the entire edit is unsourced, unless you can find something to back it up with it will get reverted again and you will end up being blocked. Acalamari 14:00, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
He's gone and bothered three completely uninvolved editors about this: Hobbes Goodyear, Xerographica, Ottawahitech. I don't think he's getting it, and I'm starting to see that there is a severe lack of competency.—Ryulong (竜龙) 20:07, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker)As both of you are on my watchlist I couldn't help but get involved in this. I complete second Ryulong's statement and I recommend him getting a mentor. If this user gets blocked again, getting a mentor should be a condition to get unblocked in my opinion.—cyberpower (Chat)(WP Edits: 517,528,262) 20:28, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, I am watching, and I saw him make those posts earlier. It's not very encouraging, but it is slightly better than him putting the content back in the article and ignoring what we were saying. Acalamari 20:48, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I wanna know why when I added the following to Power Rangers Samurai which any observer of said program can see for themselves to be fact, I WILL enlist the aid of ALL of wikipedia if i must. Besides what the heck does Power Rangers have to do with all the music articles you are responsible for anyway? You should rather edit those articles that deal with your area of expertise. I see you are awfully protective of Power Rangers, Is Saban employing you? I doubt it and if they were then you would be in a conflict of interest. : Strangely enough for a group of samurai, they are all basically gaijin even their sensei/shogun is portrayed by a New Zealander, for none of them are full blooded Japan-born Japanese. D34throse Darklight (talk) 23:21, 18 February 2012 (UTC) D34throse Darklight — Preceding unsigned comment added by D34throse Darklight (talkcontribs)

Any good faith I assumed of you up until now has been lost because of this comment, as it appears to be trolling: I explained above why the content was removed and how I came across the page. For the sake of not giving the appearance of any "admin abuse", I'll let another admin handle any future blocks of you, which I suspect will probably be soon now that you are spamming the same message over several talk pages. Acalamari 23:39, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
He's spammed at least 12 uninvolved editors about this. Let's just be rid of him.—Ryulong (竜龙) 00:38, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Support WP:AIV seems a bit dead right now. I have removed this user's spam from 4 uninvolved editors and 2 times from Ryulong's. Since I am not fully involved in this, I would not hesitate to block for at least a week. Unfortunately, I am not an admin.—cyberpower (Chat)(WP Edits: 517,569,698) 00:42, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have to admit, I am surprised they aren't blocked by now. I actually do consider myself involved at this point, although I wasn't at the time of the original block; I will most likely be out at the time they normally start editing again, and if they do return and continue disrupting, take them to AN/I. Acalamari 10:25, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
They denied blocking this user. THis user seems to have calmed down now anyways. He tried to take it up with Jimbo Wales but didn't even make it that far.—cyberpower (Chat)(WP Edits: 517,652,665) 13:16, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw that. If anything, I found it somewhat amusing. Acalamari 19:32, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you tell Lucia to disengage? I've been telling her why "Eureka Seven: AO" is the proper article title for two days now.—Ryulong (竜龙) 03:25, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I will if she comments again: looking at the discussion, there hasn't been any activity for several hours now, but I will help if there is another post. At any rate, since you have clearly explained your actions on the matter, I don't think there would be any problem with you removing any subsequent posts to that section if the discussion has gone from a reasonable question to badgering. Irn's rollback rights[edit]

COMPLAINT RE: USER:IRN, who was granted rollback rights by you.

Several years ago you overturned a decision denying User:Irn rollback rights, which had been made because Irn had just recently been blocked for engaging in an edit war. You granted it to him on the condition that he avoid misusing that privileged.

For several weeks now I have been discussing with Irn on his Talk page a warning which he issued to me for engaging in an edit war with user:Carwil. Repeatedly he has responded suggesting that I assume good faith as Wikipedia editors are expected to do and reiterated that I was warring.

Only yesterday, I realized upon closer examination that the undo of my most recent edit (which I had purposefully made in two steps - first undoing the prior undo by user:Carwil BUT THEN modifying my original edit in an effort to compromise with User:Carwil) had not been undone by user:Carwil. In fact, User:Carwil had apparently by then accepted the compromise edit I had made.

Astonishingly, the undo of my most recent edit had in fact been made by user:Irn himself, while at the very same time he cautioned me on my own talk page not to challenge what was in fact HIS edit not Carwil's, because I could end up being blocked as a user for engaging in an edit war. Incredibly user:Irn had picked up the flag that user:Carwil had already cast aside, taken over that alleged edit war by undoing my last edit, then attempted to protect his own undo by cautioning me that if I proceeded to undo HIS own undo of my edit, I would be subject to being blocked.

I believe user:Irn's actions warrant investigation and termination of his rollbacker privileges as he is obviously using that position at least in part to patrol for topics which he has a pesonal interest in protecting the text of.QuintBy (talk) 22:55, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To begin, since it was so long ago I checked on how I came to give Irn rollback rights. It seems I didn't overturn any decision other than my own, and it was discussed here. Secondly, can you please provide some diffs showing any misuse of the rollback feature by Irn? I did a brief scan of some of Irn's recent reverts and did not find anything concerning. Thanks. Acalamari 23:13, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was not expecting so defensive a response and by no means was any criticism of you either implicit or intended.. Since it appeared to be you to whom user:Irn had made his/her commitment, I assumed that you would want to be the administrator who looked into whether or not user:Irn had lived up to his/her commitment. As it appears that you prefer not to I'll ask someone else. Please consider my request to you withdrawn, again with no criticism implied. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuintBy (talkcontribs)
How was my response defensive or show any indication that I did not want to look into the matter? I merely clarified how I came to give Irn rollback rights (that seemed fair since you did mention it), and I requested diffs on any rollback misuse by Irn because I had not found any myself when I did take a look. That seemed fairly reasonable to me. Acalamari 10:30, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for cratship[edit]

User:MBisanz requested here for suggestions for users who could run for cratship as there is a shortfall of crats.Given the high standards in the RFB and even in RFA these days only a few can really be unto it. You set standards which we try to follow here in Wikipedia and most of us including me cannot even reach 50% of it .It appears we need atleast 2 to 3 crats .Would you be interested in running for cratship ?Please feel free to say no if you have other commitments and do not wish to run at this moment.Thank you Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 19:39, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I remember that you supported my RfB from years ago, and to know that I still have your support does mean a lot. :) Thanks again for suggesting me. Best. Acalamari 12:05, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU ADMIN INTERVIEW[edit]

Dear Acalamari,

I am a student at Michigan State University working on an exploration of the Wikipedia adminship process. I want to start by thanking you for agreeing to answer a few questions about your experiences being a Wikipedia administrator. These questions should take no more than 30 minutes to answer.

Just a reminder that these interviews are anonymous, and while we are using your user name to keep track of responses, your name will not be used in any of our reports. If you have questions at any time, please feel free to let me know.

Please do not post any of the questions, your responses or any of our correspondence on-wiki at this time. This is to protect the integrity of the interview process. If you would like to post this material online, please wait until June 1, 2012 to do so. Thanks so much!

Please feel free to contact me at tinuadams@gmail.com for the interview.

Use of periods[edit]

Hey! I saw some of your edits where you erased periods at the end of sentences in images.[1][2] How are they "unnecessary periods"? Thanks you. ComputerJA (talk) 15:39, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ComputerJA! From what I understand about punctuation, periods aren't necessary in non-paragraph image captions, as they aren't full sentences; take for example "Juan N. Álvarez International Airport", it isn't a complete sentence nor is it a paragraph, so a period is not necessary. If, however, the caption formed a paragraph or a full sentence (for example, something like "Juan N. Álvarez International Airport has long been important for southern Mexico's tourist industry. It is also one of Mexico's largest aircraft facilities.") then it would need periods for proper punctuation. I hope that makes sense, but you are free to revert me if you think these were better in thier previous format. Best. Acalamari 15:54, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see where you're coming from then. I simply asked because I was wondering if there was some rule here on Wikipedia about it. Your edits are cool with me. Thank you and take care! ComputerJA (talk) 22:28, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't found anything in the guidelines to say otherwise. :) I'm glad everything's good then, hope to see you around! :D Acalamari 22:51, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGG; no, I don't have an issue with your block, and if anything, I'm actually glad it came from you and I believe you were lenient in giving her only a six-month block rather than indefinite (not that I'm saying that's what you should have done, but I know some admins are more strict). I have warned Selina that she would end up getting blocked, and sadly I have to say that I am not surprised by your action. I am still willing to help her, but that task isn't made easier when my advice/help isn't always followed or acknowledged. Best. Acalamari 21:27, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

protection[edit]

Can you explain me why you protected this page? I know there was a request, but out of these reason? This page wasn't vandalized until know! mabdul 22:56, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mabdul, I double-checked WP:UPROT in case anything had changed (I remember when this was the policy on protecting user pages), and it says: "User pages and subpages are sometimes protected at the user's request, or if there is evidence of vandalism or disruption. User talk pages are rarely protected, and are semi-protected for short durations only in the most severe cases of vandalism from IP users." While there was no vandalism to WheresTristan's user page, I interpret the current policy to still allow protections of a user's user page (but not their talk page) at their request, despite no vandalism occurring. Had this been an article, I certainly would have declined it, but as this is a user page I don't see a problem with accepting the request. If you feel that the page should not be protected, I will have no problem with you requesting the page's unprotection (though if you do, I suggest adding a diff pointing to my comment here so no one tells you to discuss with me when you have done that already). I hope this clears everything! :) Best. Acalamari 09:51, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, that explains it totally. Didn't know that the user page is an "exception" and is granted after request. mabdul 16:28, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Mabdul, I think the general rationale behind User page protection is that a user page is mainly considered to be only edited by the user therefore there's no reason for an IP or new user editing that page. Talk, article and certain project pages should be open to all. Hope this makes sense. Mlpearc (powwow) 16:55, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would be an accurate description of that part of the policy. :) Acalamari 18:51, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

Please reconsider rollback for User:Ducknish. Consider the vandalism warnings they left me, and the histories of the articles where they felt I was vandalizing--Black hair and Welsh Valley Middle School. Note also their accusations of unexplained blankings etc. and the wealth of edit summaries (and in the case of Black hair, the stuff had been removed plenty of time before). If you don't want to pull rollback that's fine--but please make the reader aware of a. WP:VANDAL and b. the requirement that rollback (outside of one's own user space) is to be used only for vandalism. Thank you. 66.168.247.159 (talk) 03:46, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I left a note on their talk page, giving them advice and pointing to your comment here; I decided not to revoke rollback this time around (I prefer to give people notice rather than just take something away from them), but if problems persist, either with reverts to your own edits or to those of other people, feel free to post to WP:ANI (and if you think it'll help, point to my reply to you here). Best. Acalamari 09:33, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering how I can get this image licensed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nicole_Scherzinger_performing_Don%27t_Hold_Your_Breath.png --XHugoTheNerd (talk) 19:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that image cannot be used in the Nicole Scherzinger article no matter what: in accordance with Wikipedia:Non-free content#Unacceptable use, non-free images should not be used to depict a living person. There are plenty of free images available to portray Scherzinger. Sorry to not be of more help, but unfortunately that image cannot be used. Acalamari 22:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?[edit]

Hi, why is there a protection put on this page. There has been no vandalism on it. Good faith editors adding unsourced edits is not a reason to lock a page. Please give details. Thank you Span (talk) 13:11, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There was some minor vandalism, but I was more concerned about the unsourced edits, what appeared to be a lot of IP edit warring, and the article having some copyvio concerns recently. As to how I came across the article, the page was requested for protection here. I hope this is a satisfactory explanation, but if you disagree I will have no problem in you requesting unprotection or a reduction in the protection length. Best. Acalamari 14:21, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It just seems a strong course of action for little vandalism. The problem seems to be one trenchant IP, possibly two. If there is non-random conflict to resolve, its probably best to address it directly, I'd say. These two aren't going away any time soon. Span (talk) 15:42, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What course of action would you like me to take in regards to the article? Acalamari 17:30, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Peaches semi protection[edit]

Peaches Geldof (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi Acalamari. Thanks for the semi protection of this BLP . As I have now found and added a WP:RS for the child's name (with a comment from her publicist) I think the issues are now resolved and the protection could be removed. - Many thanks - Youreallycan 14:57, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done Hi Youreallycan! The protection has been shortened from a week down to a day after protection was initially placed. Thanks for letting me know. Acalamari 15:37, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Regards - I much appreciate it - have a nice day - Youreallycan 16:15, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wotcha[edit]

Good to see you're still around and editing after nominating me for adminship all those years ago and all that :) - filelakeshoe 16:04, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah real shame about PeaceNT, don't even know what happened to her (we used to email a bit). I can't imagine I would ever totally stop editing, I think once you know how to do it, you can never resist fixing broken things when you see them.. - filelakeshoe 16:35, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again![edit]

Hi Acalamari, how are you? I'm sorry that I haven't been editing much; I've been really busy with university work and have had problems with my health. I intend to procrastinate on exam revision by tidying up articles though!

Are you still around Cambridge? I see there's another meetup scheduled for 20th May.

Hope you're well! Baberlp (talk) 00:28, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, I can attend :) See you there then! Are you studying at Cambridge? By the way, I've seen that you've edited Carrie Underwood's page before; are you a fan of hers? I have an extra ticket to her first UK concert at the Royal Albert Hall in June if you'd be interested; the friend I bought the ticket for initially has an exam the next morning and won't be able to go. If you can't or don't want to, that's fine :) Baberlp (talk) 17:56, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, of course! I know it was out of the blue :) I've emailed you with more information. See you at the meetup! Baberlp (talk) 19:57, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback rights?[edit]

Hi, this message is to ask, what exactly would qualify a user for rollback rights? Thanks! Oh, and if you can, can you please reply on my talk page, because otherwise I probably won't see it until a billion years later. Thanks again! Tboii99 00:59, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request for protection Azul Brazilian Airlines[edit]

Dear Acalamari, In the last few weeks some IP's have been constantly editing the same mistake over and over again in the page of Azul Brazilian Airlines, paragraph destinations. Because Azul operates to Zona da Mata Regional Airport, located in the municipality of Goianá, the IP editors insist to place the tiny village of Goianá as destination. However, the main and big metropolitan area served by the airport is Juiz de Fora. In fact, in the booking tool of Azul www.voeazul.com.br , Juiz de Fora is the destination city. For this reason I kindly request semi-protecting the page for maybe two weeks - or for the time you think convenient. I thank for your help. Yours (Brunoptsem (talk) 23:40, 2 May 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Hi Brunoptsem, looking at the history, while two IPs made those changes yesterday, at present the article does not reach a low threshold to justify protection: there haven't been any edits for the last several hours; and prior to those two IPs there had been no edits for almost three days, with the last IP edit before yesterday being nearly a month ago. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to decline protection at this time, but do come back to me if the problem becomes significantly worse. Acalamari 11:14, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An Admin Action[edit]

Hello, Acalamari,

I sometimes have problem in editing because my IP have problem, I solve this in my primary wiki, fa.Wikipedia.org. I want to know if its possible to exclude my account from the IP robots investigations(just like my primary wiki, fa.Wikipedia). Please do investigate my contributions here, in fa.Wikipedia and fa.Wikinews all positive and constructive without a single issue, I think this would help:), Thanks in advance.KhabarNegar (talk) 06:19, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi KhabarNegar, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying that your account is often caught in autoblocks and you need IP block exemption rights? Thanks. Acalamari 13:01, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is true, Account is sometimes happen to caught in autoblocks and I need IP block exemption rights, Thank you. KhabarNegar (talk) 14:19, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, then, thanks for clarifying. As I'm not a checkuser, I don't normally hand this right out. I recommeng talking to WilliamH, as he is a checkuser and often deals with this particular userright. Best. Acalamari 18:08, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. KhabarNegar (talk) 15:18, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

XHugo + Nicole Image[edit]

I notice he keeps uploading images that fail WP:NONFREE. So I've stated on the main page and talk page that unless a new consensus is reached for a new main image with Nicole Scherzinger, anyone who changes it should be reported for disrupting an article and not making consensus for a new image. Thought I'd let you know! MusicFreak7676 TALK! 04:05, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, although you may want to consider leaving a note on XHugoTheNerd's talk page about the discussion on the Nicole Scherzinger talk page. On the other hand, I did say to him here that non-free images were unacceptable in the article, but he keeps uploading them anyway. Acalamari 08:30, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I put it next to the image when he goes to edit the page. So if he changes it, he's ignoring what's said on the actual article, that tells you to go to the talk page to discuss before changing. And that if it is changed, he will be reported. He isn't learning. MusicFreak7676 TALK! 16:37, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Revdel Request[edit]

Can you take a look at this a revdel this edit summary it seems to be a personal attack on Majorly.Thank you Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 16:45, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks for bringing this to me, Pharaoh of the Wizards. Acalamari 17:00, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any chance you could confirm one way or the other?©Geni 15:32, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a protection log of this at this time. --George Ho (talk) 01:17, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi George Ho, it seems I forgot to place the actual protection on Friends, even though I placed the tag on the page. This was an oversight on my part, and Courcelles has protected the page instead. :) Best. Acalamari 08:06, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

That IP is a persistent bugger...semiprotection is welcome. Good to see you around! MONGO 11:03, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey MONGO, you're welcome! :) If that IP returns to bother you and Malleus I'll be sure to protect again. Good to see you, too! Acalamari 21:50, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Celebrate (Jordin Sparks & Whitney Houston song)[edit]

Hi there, would you please help reach consensus by weighing in your opinion here. Thanks! Oz talk 21:08, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look, but despite your comment being relatively neutrally-worded, please be aware of WP:CANVASS. Acalamari 21:50, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

Hi there. I just wanted to bring to your attention some unsourced edits being made at Jacob Lurie. The person doing it seems quite persistent. Thanks. LJosil (talk) 02:31, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for two weeks. What's the rationale for them to continually add back the content? It would be worth leaving some notes on their pages and on the article's talk page. Acalamari 08:19, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like they are back at it again. LJosil (talk) 05:55, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have continuously warned them to stop adding that specific content to the article Jacob Lurie, because the source they site, is a login-required primary source, that cannot assert those claims, without a back up secondary source. They are not listening, and claiming my reversions of their edit(s) are "unsourced". I do not know what further I should do, in this matter. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 05:49, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If they continue to ignore warnings, take them to WP:ANI for wider input (AIV would be inappropriate as they are not an obvious vandal). Acalamari 17:32, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In any event, the source they cite, MathSciNet, is completely irrelevant. It is an AMS website for reviews of mathematical papers (no affiliation with Harvard), and certainly has nothing to say about the claims they are making in the article. LJosil (talk) 01:56, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. The person making the edits at Jacob Lurie is back at it again. Perhaps a stronger warning for them is in order. LJosil (talk) 04:39, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I mistakenly thought this was over, but thanks for letting me know. Acalamari 07:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like this user has now made a new username and continued their antics. LJosil (talk) 21:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for three weeks. Let's see if they use the talk page now. Acalamari 22:01, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a way to see if all of the usernames making this same edit belong to a single person? LJosil (talk) 00:13, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is checkuser, but in this case it's obvious from the edits that they're all the same person. Acalamari 09:08, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody is messing with Jacob Lurie again. I wonder what they are trying to accomplish. LJosil (talk) 01:09, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re-protected, this time for six months. Blocking would be useless, as they'd just come back under a new IP, and they have ignored all attempts at communication. Thanks again for letting me know. Acalamari 21:37, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
