Considerable time[edit]

exactly how long is a considerable time? 2 months? 6 months? 1 year?--Crossmr 18:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on intuition and personal though, I suspect. 68.39.174.238 05:16, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can also put the date of last edit, like this: {{not around|3=since June 11, 2007}} ElinorD (talk) 22:43, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to use my extensive research skills (which pretty much consist of asking my cat) and say one year. --Guy Macon (talk) 21:13, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If someone suddenly goes from being extremely active or running a bot to no edits at all, I would say 1 month minimum, using the date of last edit option described above (I got number this by asking my dog.) --Guy Macon (talk) 15:49, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it depends much on context. For a highly active admin that is doing multiple things every day that suddenly goes missing, a month seems reasonable to me. For a casual user editing a few times a year, a full year is more suitable. --Mango från yttre rymden (talk) 23:41, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Parameters[edit]

It would be helpful to be able to include the <last edits>, parameter while retaining the default values for the other two. Perhaps I'm missing something. Is this possible? Thanks. -- Trevj (talk) 09:13, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

@Trevj: What do you mean? --Mango från yttre rymden (talk) 23:41, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Problem[edit]

Please. Can you fix this category Category:Missing Wikipedians to the user pages? blastertalk! see 12:41, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It should work now. After a few failed attempts, I returned to this (after reading the Help), and performed a null edit on a user page linked to from Template:Not here (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Give the queue a chance to catch up and then check Category:Missing Wikipedians later on. -- Trevj (talk · contribs) 16:36, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 2 December 2017[edit]

Moved as proposed. The propensity for confusion with WP:NOTHERE is clear. bd2412 T 20:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Not hereTemplate:Not around – It feels odd to place "not here" on talkpage of the user who was constructive, and has been inactive; because of WP:NOTHERE. Moving WP:NOTHERE is not logical, as it is heavily used, whereas the template in discussion is used mostly by experienced users. —usernamekiran(talk) 21:34, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support could be confused with WP:NOTHERE and as mentioned that redirect to far too commonly used to be moved.--67.68.21.146 (talk) 01:45, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Agree that it could be confused with the NOTHERE guideline. ToThAc (talk) 20:22, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to avoid inactive users having their talk pages spammed with unread Signpost subscriptions etc.[edit]

Corresponding to this discssuon, I'd like to propose, if technically possible, that this template automatically opt users into Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery so that, while they're away, their talk pages aren't uselessly spammed with subscriptions. Good idea? yes? no? -- œ 09:44, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent idea; I support. Chris Troutman (talk) 12:41, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Date indication, flexibility and more than one[edit]

I would like there to be some flexibility on the date indication on this banner, and being able to have more than one in the template structure. Look at this user's talk page where I just put a banner, for example. I wrote the dates like "November of 2017 and not been seen since May 2018" because while he technically made edits in May 2018, he only engaged in a few discussions in his last active time the last months before his absence, and didn't edit an article or any such (what I would consider) substantial contribution since November 2017. For a former very active user I think such discrepancy is worth to mention, and possibly even important. For the sake of this discussion I also want to mention that he blanked his user page in May 2017 and indicated already in March 2012 that he is going to spend less time on Wikipedia.
At least would it be nice to have the text between the two dates be in regular style instead of having one long bold line of text that kinda exhausts the reader and goes against the purpose of just highlighting keywords to make it easy to just skim through and still get the important piece of the message for experienced users.
What are your thoughts on this? --Mango från yttre rymden (talk) 23:41, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 29 November 2022[edit]

Perhaps we could replace File:Presa de decissions.png with File:Decision making.svg as the svg is of a higher scalable quality? Example.Mugtheboss (talk) 19:20, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
