Footnotes

Parts of this have been transported from another article, and so the footnotes may not quite correspond. This will be fixed soon. SlimVirgin (talk) 01:15, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

The footnotes need work, because some books keep getting full cites instead of using the name= technique for repeated cites. See Wikipedia:Citation templates. Shall I do the cleanup? Edison 18:20, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Feel free to tidy them, Edison, though if you could avoid using those terrible citation templates, it would be much appreciated. :-) SlimVirgin (talk) 00:44, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Dates of Citations

It would be nice if someone would insert a publication year for the New York Times report mentioned in the last paragraph. --The Outhouse Mouse 13:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Where's a copy of the report online???

I read this article and the one about Vrba, and kept looking for a link to a copy of the report, to no avail. The article on Vrba says that there is no English or Hebrew version of the report at Yad Vashem, which seems very odd. The cites in this article and the one on Vrba are to articles ABOUT the report in the New York Times, in which one can expect some editorial changes from whatever Vrba wrote, as well as to a "Encyclopedia of the Holocaust" by Gutman which I lack the $355 to buy at Amazon, and with no assurance the full text of the report is contained therein, as well as many references to "Berenbaum, Michael & Gutman, Yisrael (eds). Anatomy of the Auschwitz Death Camp, Indiana University Press, 1994" which sells for $29.95 at Amazon, once again with no assurance the full original report is contained therein. The report was published November 25, 1944 by the U.S. War Refugee Board according to the Vrba article. That publication and the apparent wide circulation of copies of it in the 1940's would seem to put the text into public domain. What's going on? It's great if Mr. Vrba and his heirs are earning royalties from his writing, but it seems like there is much talk about the report and not much availability of it, as if there were parts of it that someone wanted to conceal. Edison 18:20, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Very strange indeed. I came here to see what was in the report, and only got its history. 75.4.219.206 20:26, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Various sources state that a copy resides at the FDR Library in New York. Perhaps you should contact them (http://www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/contact.html) and ask them how to obtain a copy? 204.128.192.4 00:07, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
There's a copy in Vrba's autobiography Escape from Auschwitz, and I believe the Holocaust museum in Poland has published a copy too. I did consider typing it up and adding it to Wikisource, but it's 30-something pages so I haven't gotten round to it. SlimVirgin (talk) 00:42, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
That is very useful info. I had assumed that the reported 32 pages handwritten ot the original would type up to far fewer pages, but maybe he wrote very small. It would be a great addition to Gutenberg or Wikisource,or someone's Holocaust website. I just can't understand there not being an online copy, give the numerous Holocaust museums arounf the world. I have gotten the feeling that people like to quote from some parts and keep very quiet about some other parts, for reasons unknown. Edison 04:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't see anything in it that people might want to keep quiet about. Perhaps I'll try to find time soon to type it in. No promises though. :-) SlimVirgin (talk) 04:10, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Is the report available - anywhere?159.105.80.141 17:30, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Where, or if, this report actually exists is confusing. The article implies, maybe only to me, that it is with FDR,VY, and/or in the Nuremberg archives. Is the mention of the Nuremberg for this report or some other? The Nuremberg report should be available. There seems to be some reluctance to put this out - or maybe it is of no importance ( I follow the theory that if it proved the point it would be on my cereal box by now).159.105.80.141 14:26, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

As it says above, there's a copy of the report in the Vrba book. You're welcome to get hold of it and type it up for us, if you want it to be widely available. I believe there's no copyright on it. SlimVirgin (talk) 14:42, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Clarify tag

I've removed the clarify request tag from the lead para. IMHO the details of the escape belong in the articles about the authors of the report not the article about the report itself, and they can indeed be found in the article on Vrba. This is linked in the lead. Squiddy | (squirt ink?) 16:22, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Google links

Hi Poeticbent, I don't mind if you want to add page links to citations, but adding Google links to the whole book in the References section isn't normally done. If we do it for that one, we would ideally have to do it for them all. Ditto with ISBNs (which may not match the editions used as references). SlimVirgin (talk) 19:58, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

major mistakes in report

Could we please point out the major mistakes made in the report? --197.229.151.7 (talk) 22:25, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

The mistakes in the report are fully covered in the article, as are the likely reasons for them and the fact that they don’t impinge on the report’s credibility. KJP1 (talk) 16:09, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
