Samaria edit war

Could you guys discuss the issue of using "Samaria" here in the talk page, because it's getting pretty annoying now with all the constant reverting. --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:38, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

It has been discussed pretty extensively at Talk:Samaria, Talk:Judea and Samaria and Talk:Israeli settlement, among other places. A small group of editors have spent the better part of three months fighting against the tons of proof [1][2] that clearly show "Samaria" to be a non-neutral, extreme minority term. Before the article properly reflects standard terminology, I don't think it merits the "Good Article" nomination. MeteorMaker (talk) 00:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
So you suggest "in the upper hills of the northern West Bank...", correct? I see nothing wrong with that since "northern West Bank" covers it. I don't think the inclusion of the term will render it not a Good article, unless it remains unstable for long. --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Both are fine with me, as long as we avoid non-standard and POV terminology like "Samaria", like all other sources outside Israel [3]. MeteorMaker (talk) 00:27, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Please stop this attempt to censor "Samaria" out of Wikipedia. The information is well sourced. Canadian Monkey (talk) 01:18, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Then kindly provide one source that says it's called Samaria anywhere else than in Israel. MeteorMaker (talk) 07:42, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

SWP-stuff

I am not sure how to incorporate the SWP 1881 -stuff into the article. We have:

  • p. 147: this is a translation of Guerin 1874: Samarie I 357ff;
  • section C names the 3 factions in Tubas (based on Finn 1867??)
  • p. 229; "prestent" -day , ie 1881 description

Suggestions? Huldra (talk) 23:47, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

We could add parts of Guerin's description instead of the full quote to the third passage of the Ottoman rule section and perhaps mention that in addition to the Daraghmeh, the Sawafta and Fukhah clans also inhabited Tubas during this period. We already mention them in the Demographics section. The SWP description should be divided between the the Ancient history section and the last passage of the Ottoman rule section. Also, we should fix the spelling of Nabi Toba which appears to be falsely spelled "Tota" in the article. I'll work on it in a little bit. --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:17, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
