The introductory sentence claims that he is of Azerbaijani origin. This claim may mean that he was an Azerbaijani citizen who represents Turkey after migrating (or expatriating) to Turkey. Well, according to sources cited in the article, he is a Turkish citizen of Karapapak origin. (Unlike Azerbaijan, Karapapak doesn't refer to a country.) So I think the introductory sentence needs to be reworded. I'll call the editor.
