removal by "materialscientist" of my autobiography[edit]

He did so on the ground that, as noted above, "encyclopedic content must be verifiable." It had not occurred to me that an autobiography would need external verification. I now realize that I can indeed provide it: my previously published autobiographical writings.

I am not familiar enough with the rules to be sure whether my recording the following data here will suffice to provide the needed verification. Please let me know if I should supply it in another form or locality.

My first and most extended published autobiography is: Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).Holt, R. R. (1993). An exploratory study of life: Progress report. In C. E. Walker (Ed.), A history of clinical psychology in autobiography, Vol. 2 (pp.159-229). Pacific Grove, CA: Brooks/Cole.

Here is a second autobiographical writing: Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).Holt, R. R. (2005a). A life-long attempt to understand and assess personality. Journal of Personality Assessment, 84(1), 3-15. Also in S. N. Strack and B. N. Kinder (Eds.), Personality theory and assessment: Autobiographical perspectives. New York: Springer.

Please let me know if these references are not sufficient to overcome materialscientist's objections, and if I need to resubmit my MS. I attempted to append my Curriculum Vitae and personal Bibliography in case they might be helpful in determining my qualifications for an extended entry in Wikipedia, but did not succeed. If they would be of value, please let me know how I might download them.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). I might just add that I am now 98 years old, and would like to be assured that a fair account of my life and works remains after my death, in Wikipedia.

Robert R. Holt Capebobholt (talk) capebobholt@comcast.net

Hi Robert, per my message on your talk page, writing of autobiographies is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia: please see Wikipedia:Autobiography for more, but in short: "We have biographies here, not autobiographies. Avoid writing or editing an article about yourself, other than to correct unambiguous errors of fact". It's definitely not appropriate to add your CV or bibliography, and your attempt to upload these didn't work in any case, only introducing formatting errors in the article which I've now corrected. My advice to you would be to discuss changes to the article concerned on the talk page for the article (Talk:Robert R. Holt), rather than on your user talk page. If you propose some changes there, and provide references to reliable sources, then I'm sure fellow editors will be happy to help make these changes. This will help reduce your conflict of interest, and also help you format the references correctly. As a courtesy, I'll copy your above message over to the article's talk page for wider awareness.
