Primula elatior is not wild in Norway at all! Northern borders are Denmark and south-tip of Sweden (Skaane).

However, P. elatior is one the oldest garden plants in Norway, and has escaped to wild many places, even far north in Norway. This is a good example of the difference between natural distribution and distribution as a result of cultivation.

In Russia there is a subspec. called P. pallasii, but obviously is P. elatior ssp. pallasii. It has larger flowers than P. elatior. There is also a blue primula (P. amoena) wich probably is P. elatior ssp. amoena. Both subspecies crosses freely with P. elatior. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.242.49.158 (talk) 10:22, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
