Italian rule and Kastellorizo.[edit]
In Kastellorizo ("Castelrosso") the Italian rule began on March 3, 1921. During WWII a British attempt to conquest the island failed because of an Italian counter-attack (February 25-28, 1941). The British took the island on September 10, 1943, two days after the surrender of Italy.
