I believe Fender (guitars and amplifiers) and Harley Davidson are also employee owned, but I'm putting this here on the talk page since I don't have independent confirmation.

Sorry, Harley Davidson is publicly traded (NYSE: HOG). The article for Fender says that Fender was bought from CBS by its own employees, but that might have been a management buyout (a well-financed subset of employees rather than all employees as a group, for instance) as Hoover.com lists Fender as being controlled by a management group headed by chairman William Schultz.

Perhaps this raises a good point -- should this list be limited to certain kinds of employee ownership? Obviously employees can buy their own publicly-traded stock, and key personnel often receive stock grants and options... the National Center for Employee Ownership uses the phrase, "substantial or principal ownership" which may be difficult to verify for closely held private companies.

I removed Round Tabel Pizza - Not A Employee - owned Co. Acording to there web site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.250.57.248 (talk) 00:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed because Trolltech (went Puplic) completed an IPO on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July, 2006. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.250.57.248 (talk) 00:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would make the case that Huwai should not be on the list, at least according to the ownership information in the article it links to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.46.55.39 (talk) 20:05, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

what about Piggly Wiggly? thanks, mike.

Former ESOP Companies[edit]

Would it be useful to include on this page companies that were formerly ESOPs and now are not, and defunct companies that were important examples of ESOPs? Pamida is an example of the former, and in the latter category you could include some very large former ESOPs like Avondale Industries, Weirton Steel and Otasco among others?. Would it be better to include these in the existing list (perhaps with an explanatory note afterward) or in a separate section of the list? Arxiloxos (talk) 22:56, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The list isn't necessarily currently ESOPs, so I think it would be acceptable to include them with a note. DGG (talk) 21:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Needs new tags "blatant fabrication", etc.[edit]

eg. the Tribune company. Also of course misses major actual Employee owned companies like Epic and Mondragon. So needs some kinda extra skreechy tags. 76.180.168.166 (talk) 21:37, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
