This is an example of one of the strange pages, which abound on Wikipedia, where the "Contents" appear towards the end of the article. It would make more sense to me if the contents appeared at the start, to act as an index. There seems to be something wrong with the design guidelines that allows this to happen. Updates[edit]

Despite receiving lots of visitors and having a lot of Japanese resources devoted to this area, it is still not widely understood in the English literature. I've attempted to flesh it out a bit, given I did a 2 week pilgrimage here and really took my time to try to understand the area. I especially drew on the Kumano Kodo official guidebooks and the Lonely Planet guidebook, though there are many more Japanese language books that I can't read except for going through them with machine translation. This is an incredible place and I hope you enjoy learning about it.

There is also a massive wealth of English language information available from the Kumano Travel site and the respective Information Centers dotted throughout Wakayama, as well as the Wakayama Prefecture itself. I was recommended that you should contact the prefecture for information. Why the information is available in English only in-person at these information offices is beyond me, but there are some great maps and pamphlets which I have used for the romanisation and a fair few details.
