Not a true biography[edit]

Gie is a 2005 biographical film directed by Riri Riza. The film tells the story of Soe Hok Gie, a graduate from University of Indonesia who is known as an activist and nature lover. The film is based on a diary Catatan Seorang Demonstran written by Gie himself.

Nope.. This is not biographical film and even the director itself acknowledge his movie is not a biography. It has fictitious characters (althought it based on some real persons). It has fictitious events. It didn't show Gie's anger toward Sukarno and Indonesian Communist Party (which probably removed by the director to avoid protest from Sukarno's family). It interpreted the Bali massacre differently from what Gie's wrote (which probably changed by the director to show his simpathy toward ex-communist which had throught injustice time).

Worse, some of the scenes lead the audience believe he was homosexual. Oh, please... Kunderemp 12:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
