Dates of the school year

Greetings all. The page Academic term lists countries by the date/extent of the school year. North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania are almost exclusively represented on the list. This country has not yet been added onto the page. Would anyone be able to pop over, and give it a quick edit? Thanks, samwaltz 22:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

No Source

There is no source/sources to give credibility to the section entitled 'Effects of the occupation'. Shouldn't it therefore be deleted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.131.182.131 (talk) 18:47, August 22, 2007 (UTC)

..... but keep the section

The following is the result of an unrelated conversation between Nishidani and myself.

In 1967 education to high school level of Palestinians was significantly better than the corresponding Israeli level. Now much of the area is a grim shanty world of lost generations, deprived of peace, food, and land. History is pitiless, and this is the past.
...and thanks for the info on the level of '67 high schools. Can you RS and add that?
Re educational levels, you request a source. I had in mind the following RS (the authors were, respectively, Professor of Economics at Cal-U, Davis, and Director of the Institute for Land Resource Planning, at Tel Aviv and consultant for the UN):-
'In comparison with both Israel and Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza seem to have a favourable educational basis. The age group 6-11 shows a higher participation in Israel (84.4) than in the West Bank (80.5) but, in the group 15-17 years of age, the percentage in the West Bank is considerably higher than in Israel, 44.6 compared with 22.8 in Israel.' Elias H.Tuma, Haim Darin-Drabkin, The Economic Case for Palestine, Croom Helm, London 1978 p.48.
They also point out that by 1966, Palestinian enrolment rates at university level exceeded those of all other Arab countries.

I thought this might be helpful when this article is improved, thanks Nishidani. CasualObserver'48 (talk) 12:11, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Is it true that Palestinians have the highest proportion of university graduates in the Arab world?

Is it true? I've heard many people say it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.5.148 (talk) 15:59, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Area C

Wouldn't Area C use the same education system as Israel, rather then being administered by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 21:14, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

That is correct. See Ariel University for the most obvious example of this. --Eliyahu S Talk 08:31, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
