Draco and the Malfoys has plenty of mainstream media coverage (Google News as of 20 July 2007 has hits for 50 mainstrem news article). The band has a fan base: a google search of "Draco and the Malfoys" comes up with 63,600 hits and "Draco and the Malfoys" +fans comes up with 17, 200 hits. Lyrics[edit]

This entire section was removed almost immediately after I edited the page. I don't care either way, but I don't see any reason why it should have been removed. 140.247.72.120 20:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Cami Solomon[reply]

The problem is that it violates Wikipedia policy on no original research. Everything on Wikipedia must have been previously published (in print or on-line). Wikipedia articles must be free of opinion and new ideas. So the Lyrics section would have to be written from the perpective of what other people have said ...people that have actually had their reviews published in reliable sources: blogs don't count (although WizardRock.Org and Wizrocklopedia.com would be reasonable sources). Provide sources for everything:see Wikipedia:Citing sources. Beware of "weasel" words which are outlined in this Wiki style page:see Wikipedia:Avoid weasel words. Do not write "one would expect" or "many are also surprised" then the section would not be deleted. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast 22:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, to elaborate, the section contains phrases like "the band mystifies their audience with clever lyrics." That is an opinion, and it is worded in a very non-neutral way. The section contained no factual information really, except what I integrated into the main part of the article. --Cheeser1 23:39, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GAC[edit]

Hi. I'm failing this GA nomination for the following reasons:

  • This sentence from the lead does not make sense: "Inspired by the J.K. Rowling book series Harry Potter, the two band members dress and claim to be the book's teenage antagonist, Draco Malfoy."
  • MoS issues: References need to be at the end of a sentence, and some sentences lack full stops.
  • The article contains too many quotes that should be summarised and converted into prose form. This is the main problem here, as roughly 1/2 of the article is made up of quotations.
  • The albums are redlinks; if they are sufficiently notable the articles should be created (even as stubs). If they are not, the links should be removed.

Template follows:

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation): b (all significant views):
  5. It is stable.
  6. It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned): b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  7. Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

Thank you for taking the time to GA review Draco and the Malfoys. The points you made will help when I and others work on it. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast 22:51, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, the article so far is a nice start :) Thanks for taking the comments well ;) A little bit more editing and I think it will be GA status (I will be happy to re-review when you think it is ready, or else stick it back up at GAC). Kamryn · Talk 22:57, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This info seems to have been lost in the article and should be put back in sentence form. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 23:46, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The idea of a Wizard rock WikiProject was proposed almost two years ago. Now that there are two more bands and a few more Harry and the Potters releases with articles, it would benefit to have a wizard rock task force. There just thirteen articles related to wizard rock, however the task force will not only be a place that improves these articles, but will also be a place to gather sources, build new articles in collaborative sandboxes and discuss uploading the mass of photographs related to wizard rock to WikiCommons (from Flickr). The task force will be under the umbrella of WikiProject Harry Potter.

To get involved within the task force or discuss it, see here. Alex Douglas (talk) 14:06, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
