Naming[edit]

This article started on Sept. 2007 with the name Centro, Montevideo and on the next day, its author then moved it to Downtown Montevideo, most probably to comply with the English naming rule. Then on March 2009 it was moved by another user to Central Montevideo. Both moves, however, end up with a wider scope than what this Montevideo neighbourhood (barrio) article should describe. "Dontown" or "central" Montevideo involves more than one neighbourhoods and should include at least the Cordón area as well, and the article at this stage does in fact try to bring both together (probably including Tres Cruces), stating that it "goes from Plaza Independencia to Artigas Boulevard". This integration however is not according to officially accepted "barrios" [1], [2]. Separate articles on "Municio B, Montevideo", as well as the other municipios, as per the new division in municipios goes, should be created to describe these wider areas and their administrative situations. For these reasons, and currently trying to create separate article for each barrio of Montevideo, I have asked for this article to be moved back to its original naming, which, btw, does not contradict the English naming rule. I saw your request on Dr. Blofeld's page, so I moved the article. In the future, note that you can go through the WP:Requested moves process for this kind of change. Both Downtown Montevideo and Central Montevideo currently redirect here; they need to be edited to provide the correct scope. --Orlady (talk) 16:20, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
