I cannot find the black cap in the photo... can anyone point out to me where it is? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.139.81.0 (talk) 22:02, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's on the judge at the back of the court. It's not the clearest of photos given the age but you can see the whiter wig that judges normally wear and then the much darker cloth above it. Tigerman2005 (talk) 04:03, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see it either. While this photo is interesting in a historic sense as the only known picture of a death sentence being given in England, I'm not sure it is really a useful one for illustrating the black cap. --Khajidha (talk) 13:13, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The image may not be the only one of a judge wearing the black cap to pass sentence. Page 122 of 'Crime and Detection' by Julian Symons (Studio Vista
1966) shows an image of Mr Justice Avory passing sentence with a black cap clearly on his head (though the picture is fuzzy) on chauffeur Thomas Alloway in 1922.Bkesselman (talk) 22:51, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
