A WWII-era registration form printed by the "gemeente Balen-Neet" was used by the Westerweel Groep underground. A further notation (possibly misspelled) gives an alternate spelling: Baelen-Nethe (possibly a French-language variant). Can this be confirmed, and is this location identical or related to Balen? Is there perhaps a connection with the Nete River (in French: Nèthe)? According to archival information, Balen-Neet was on that underground's route in rescue operations smuggling Jews from the Netherlands to France. -- Thanks, Deborahjay (talk) 12:08, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
