I removed a bunch of stuff about the development of Alcoa and duraluminum, and if the bit about Winter was moved to its own page this article would seem better named "Aluminum musical instruments". - Mireut 18:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yamaha Aluminum Piano Plate prior to Winter and Company?[edit]

I have a Yamaha created during WWII that uses an aluminum plate rather than cast iron/steel. I think this was probably done out of convenience (due to the war). The date of manufacture is 1943.
