Arabistan?

Somebody pushed the idea that a majority lives in Iran by just swapping Qatar with Iran in the lead, w/o offering any arguments or proof whatsover. This doesn't make it implausible, and it should be discussed. What is known about past or present presence in Khuzestan province, the Arab-populated part of Iran, former Arabistan? The Al Muhannadi is a confederation of independent Arab tribes that was formed in Qatar in the 1800s; before this, it didn't exist. And aside from some of them being exiled to Kuwait in 1963, there haven't been any mass migrations from the confederation. This reference (in Arabic) has the most information about the confederation I was able to find in my search. It says that most of the families of the confederation are descended from the Arab Bani Hajar tribe, but there have been some intermarriages in the confederation from the Al-Joloh tribe, which is of Persian origins, and that the confederation was mistaken for being Persian by the British because of their frequent trade missions to Persia. But as for the original question I think it's safe to say that they're native Qatari and have lived there for their whole history. Elspamo4 (talk) 22:07, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Just because something isn’t implausible doesn’t mean it warrants discussion as if it were an established fact

Historical migrations across the Persian Gulf have occurred frequently driven by economic necessities, It’s highly likely that individuals or small groups from various Gulf tribes moved to Iran particularly during periods of hardship like World War I when food shortages prompted mass migrations

If we're going to speculate, historical migrations from the Arab side of the gulf into Iran have more commonly targeted provinces like Hormozgan and Bushehr, not Khuzestan Looshroom (talk) 19:15, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
