Dr. Maqsood Ahmed [1]is presently serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Security & Emergency Services Division, [2]Karachi. Served the police department in various positions and locations. Has been honored with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz[3] for his outstanding services and professional skills.

Dr. Maqsood Ahmed [1]is presently serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Security & Emergency Services Division, [2]Karachi. Served the police department in various positions and locations. Has been honored with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz[3] for his outstanding services and professional skills.

EDUCATION:[edit]

Dr. Maqsood Ahmed has been conferred a doctorate degree[4] by the University of Northumbria[5], Newcastle, United Kingdom[6] upon his successful research in the filed of ‘Terrorism Financing in Pakistan’.

He has done his Masters in Criminal Justice System from London School of Economics (LSE).

Dr. Maqsood Ahmed has done BBA Honours from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi.

He is also a graduate of FBI National Academy, USA.

CAREER:[edit]

  • Joined the police services in 2001 as Assistant Superintendent of Police[7].
  • Managed and monitored numerous gatherings of national and international significance under crucial situations.
  • Ensured 100 percent attendance of prisoners in the honorable courts where their cases were under trial.
  • Carried out his duties during annual religious festivals and succeeded in keeping peace under challenging situations of violence and terrorism.
  • Performed extremely well in providing protection to important personalities whenever and wherever needed.
  • On 21st July 2008, he took charge of newly established Centralized Security Headquarters, CCP Karachi and carried out the difficult task of re-organizing the three dignitary security zones into one Centralized Unit.
  • He successfully monitored and managed various national and international mega events in Karachi like
  • IDEAS[8], Foreign exhibitions, visits of cricketing nations to Karachi and some other local sport events[9].
  • In view of his professional acumen, skills and dedication to duties, he was entrusted the job of establishing a
  • special security unit in Sindh Police [10] for the protection of important personalities and vital installations [11].
  • Established first ever exclusive VVIP security unit in Pakistan with specialized police personnel, sophisticated weapons, modern anti-sabotage equipment and conducted VVIP movements efficiently including those of foreign dignitaries.
  • In coordination with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Trainning Centre, started Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) for Schools, Colleges, Universities, public service organizations and professional groups.
  • Upgraded training curriculum of commandos by incorporating several tactical and capacity building courses, including Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) course, motor driving course, e-learning, e-mapping and advanced counter terrorism courses.
  • Conceived, developed and got approved from Government of Sindh, the visionary idea of Promise of Peace project that provides for emergency response and facilitative services as well as counter terrorism mechanism.
  • Established three new services under the project Promise of Peace namely Police Emergency Services 911, Police Facilitation Centers and Institute of Peace and Policing Studies, which will soon be upgraded to first ever counter terrorism university in Pakistan.
  • The International Police Organization (IPO) has appointed Sindh Police Security Division chief Dr. Maqsood Ahmed as president [12]of the IPO Pakistan [13].
  • Revamped Police Emergency Mechanism (15) according to mordern needs by maximizing resources[14].

ACHIEVEMENTS:[edit]

In recognition of his invaluable services to the Police Department, especially in the field of security, the coveted civil award ‘Tamgha-e-Imtiaz’ [15](TI) was conferred on him by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

He recently has been conferred with the ‘Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal’ (QPM) [16]by the President of Pakistan for his outstanding courage, gallantry and meritorious public service.
