Mitsuhiro Matsuda

I had written this AFD, but the article was draftified immediately before I nominated it for deletion, so am providing it on the talk page:

This biography has verifiability problems, notability problems, and tone problems. The verifiability problem is that the sources and the article disagree as to the date of birth and the life status of the subject. The article states that he was born in 1994. Three of the five references state that he died in 2008. One of them states that he was born in 1934, and one of them states that he died in 2008 at the age of 74 (which is consistent with birth in 1934). Either the article has not been fact-checked, or the article is partly about someone else, a son or grandson, with the same name. The article does not speak for itself, and does not establish biographical notability.

The third paragraph (of three paragraphs) is nothing but an advertisement for his brand, and is not about the person but the brand.

The five sources include short obituaries in Vogue UK and Women's Wear Daily, which are reliable sources. They are both on a borderline between significant coverage and not significant coverage.

Reference Number Reference Comments Independent Significant Reliable Secondary
1 vintagefashionguild.org/ Directory entry of trade association No Yes ? No
2 asia.nikkei.com by Yohji Yamamoto, did not find mention of subject Probably, since did not find mention of subject Not about subject ? No
3 www.vogue.co.uk An obituary Yes Marginal Yes Yes
4 wwd.com/feature/designer-mitsuhiro-matsuda-1555779-1648409/ An obituary Yes Marginal Yes Yes
5 blog.goo.ne.jp A blog post of an obituary ? Yes No No

The combination of serious factual errors and marginal notability of the coverage are a reason to delete.
