Thomas Jefferson Appleyard (August 19, 1850 - 1931) was a printer and newspaperman.

Born in Richmond, Virginia the son of John Appleyard and Sarah Wadsworth, immigrants from England.

Career[edit]

He worked at the Southern Opinion newspaper in Richmond and served in the Confederate Navy. He worked at various papers and married Sarah E. Kennedy (died October 15, 1916). They had eight children.[3]

He ran various newspapers in different parts of Florida. A Democrat, he attended several Democratic National Conventions.

He was Secretary of the Florida Press Association for more than 30 years.[3]

Appleyard was the secretary of the Florida State Senate from 1895 until 1909.[4]
