Draft:Los Havtanos

  • Comment: Questionable citations, for example citation 1 (Rossiskaya Gazeta) doesn't cite that an album was released in 2017, for example. Palm Beach International Awards do not appear notable, and the claim that Los Havtanos won an award is uncited, anyway. Sionk (talk) 16:28, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
  • Comment: I can confirm the notability of the band, but I'll leave the rest of the draft review to others. Suitskvarts (talk) 16:21, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Los Havtanos is a musical project formed by Evgeny Khavtan in 2018[1][2], the leader of the Russian rock band Bravo, Cuban musicians, and Grammy-nominated, Los Angeles based producer Ghian Wright.

History[edit]

In 2017 Evgeny Khavtan recorded the song "Ships"[3][4] with musicians from the flamenco-gypsy-jazz band Barrio Manouche, based in San Francisco[2][5]. The recording was subsequently sent to Los Angeles for mixing by Ghian Wright.[6]

The Russian version of the album 'Come To Me' (Russian: "Иди ко мне") was released on October 7, 2020, by Souyz Music[7][8][9]

"I've always liked music that has the warmth and sunshine of South America and is based on the fiery rhythms of rumba, salsa, and flamenco. It was something I really missed during my rock and roll era, which I had been doing for so long. So, I decided to try something completely new and record a Latino album", explains Evgeny Khavtan.[10]

The record was produced across the globe: Moscow, Los Angeles (USA), Havana (Cuba), Porto Alegre (Brazil). Producer Ghian Wright handled the mixing[8], and one of the songs was produced by Latin Grammy-winning producer Leo Bracht[2][11] (Brazil).[5]

Los Havtanos song ‘Mar De Blanca Arena’ (the song which launched the band, known as ‘Ships' (Russian: "Корабли") in the Russian version) was awarded as the 'Best Latin Song'[12] at the Palm Beach International Music Awards[13] (USA) in 2021.
