Garrett Armfield (born October 9th, 1996) is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Bantamweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is a former Fighting Alliance Championship Bantamweight Champion. He is also the 2014 St. Louis Golden Gloves Champion. Garrett also holds a black belt in Karate and a purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Personal Life and Background[edit]

Armfield was born in Eureka, Missouri. He started training in karate at the age of four and earned his black belt at the age of 13. Garrett started in kickboxing at the age of 7 after watching his older brother, Clayton, take a kickboxing class at the Eureka based karate studio, USA Martial Arts Academy. Armfield graduated from Eureka High School where he competed in wrestling throughout his four years of high school.

In 2016, he started training in Brazilian jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts at Springfield Fight Club in Springfield, Missouri.

In 2019, he earned a bachelors degree in business administration with a minor in healthcare administration at Missouri State University.

Mixed Martial Arts Career[edit]

Early Career[edit]

Armfield began competing in mixed martial arts from 2015-2018 compiling an amateur record of 6-1 with 4 of his victories coming by way of first round knockout. After dropping his last amateur fight to future UFC fighter David Onama by decision, Garrett turned professional.

In August of 2018, Garrett had his professional debut at Pyramid Fighting Championship, where he defeated Shane Bridges by first round technical knockout via ground and pound. He then fought Joe Estrada at Walkout FC in Springfield, Missouri. Armfield round by knockout 11 seconds in the first round, extending his professional record to 2-0. For Garretts 3rd professional bout, he faced future UFC bantamweight Ronnie Lawrence at Legacy Fighting Alliance. Garrett lost this bout by unanimous decision, dropping his record to 2-1. In 2019, Garrett moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to train at MMA camp KillCliff FC.

From 2019 to 2022, Armfield competed for various promotions, most notably Cage Fury Fighting Championships, climbing his professional record to 7-2.

In May of 2022, Armfield fought for the Fighting Alliance Championship bantamweight title, winning by knockout, 33 seconds into the first round claiming the FAC 135lb Championship.

Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]

In July 2022, Garrett Armfield received a short-notice call up to sign with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and rematch UFC featherweight David Onama. Armfield lost the fight via submission in the second round.

After a year layoff, Armfield moved camps back to his native Missouri to train at the Trey Ogden led - Marathon MMA in Overland Park Kansas.

In August 2023, Garrett fought at UFC Singapore. Armfield defeated Toshiomi Kazama by knockout at 4:16 of round 1.

Armfield faced two time Ultimate Fighter winner Brad Katona on January 20th 2024 at UFC 297. He won the fight by unanimous decision.

In March 2024, Armfield had signed a new four fight deal with the UFC.

Armfield is scheduled to face Brady Heistand on June 15th, 2024 at UFC Fight Night 243.
