The Bușag Station is a railway station serving Tăuții Măgherăuș, Maramureș County, Romania, located on the CFR 400 Highway.

History[edit]

Bușag was connected to the railway network in 1884, with the inauguration of the Satu Mare - Baia Mare railway line. The Satu Mare - Baia Mare railway is part of the CFR 400 Highway and has a length of 60 km. In 1882, in Cluj (Kolozsvár in Hungarian) a group of businessmen founded the "Anonymous Society of Local Railways Satu Mare - Baia Mare" (in Hungarian "Szatmárnémeti – Nagybánya helyi vasúti szöttársaság"). The company, having multinational private capital, obtained the concession for the construction of the railway connecting Satu Mare (in Hungarian Szatmárnémeti) to Baia Mare (in Hungarian Nagybánya). The concession line with a length of 56.3 km starts from Botiz (Batiz in Hungarian), as a connecting node to the already existing line Debrecen – Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare) – Királyháza (Korolevo) – Máramarossziget (Sighetu Marmației), was built between the years 1882-1884.[4][5] The Satu Mare – Botiz line section was operated jointly by Helyi Érdekű Vasút (Local Interest Railway) and Északkeleti Vasúttal (North-Eastern Railway). In 1904, due to the cumbersome operation of the common section of the line, HÉV built a 3.8 km section connecting Botizul to the Satu Mare station of the Hungarian Railways (Magyar Államvasutak).
