Untitled[edit]

Why, oh why, is there a "United States writers" stub category and an "American writers" category? Thise is one of the things that needs to be cleaned up. Lawilkin 18:36, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merged in Verylarge2 to Verylarge: my new Category:Categories requiring diffusion should help out with the categories that require cleaning. This category can now handle the permanently-large. Cwolfsheep 17:12, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stub categories certainly not "large by design"[edit]

The cumulated migratations in the text of this category page seem to have ended up implying that stub categories are the principal type of category that are "large by design". Not quite sure where to start on that one. Splitting these out has obviously become a necessity. Hasn't this thing been done in an essentially bass-ackwards manner, by changing the meaning of the category, and having the contents progressively "move out", rather than creating a new meta-category for the cases of "large by design", which are clearly the exceptions -- and which by and large don't seem to ever have been tagged in that manner? (Look at for example some of the preposterously large categories created in the name of WP1.0, for example.) Also, isn't it wildly inappropriate that {{Overpopulated}} feed into a "large by design" category? Alai 03:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Three-prong approach to category sorting[edit]

I merged in "overpopulated" and changed or removed the appropriate template tags as needed. {{verylarge}} should be used for one-time cleanup; {{catdiffuse}} should be used if people are likely to keep adding to the category; category tagging is pointless for template-driven categories that cannot be recategorized. Naming scheme discussion[edit]

A discussion is taking place at Template_talk:Very_large#Template_name concerning potentially changing the naming scheme from "very large" to an alternative. Input is invited. --Bsherr (talk) 14:38, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The template has been moved to {{overpopulated category}}. Is there any objection to moving this category to match? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:09, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
