iraqi news agency photo, according to the link. was a government controlled news agency under saddam. since saddam's government has been overthrown, i assumed the copyright issues with the photo became null.Anthonymendoza 20:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

in april 2004, paul bremer and the provisional government set to amend iraq copyright laws "to ensure that Iraqi copyright law meets current internationally-recognized standards of protection, and to incorporate the modern standards of the World Trade Organization into Iraqi law."[1] since under saddam iraq wasn't a part of internationally recognized standards of protection, the image in question thus wasn't protected under US law. therefore, it appears the image is in the public domain.Anthonymendoza 21:50, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Iraqi law is based on British law and is a lot less primitive than you migt expect. I'd say the image is copyrighted; and despite the change of government I'd say it's still protected by Iraqi, international or inalienable copyright laws.202.82.171.186 07:55, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and I also think i know one of the guys in the photo. I think he posed as a translator after Saddam's fall. Does anyone know where there's a higher-res version? 202.82.171.186 07:55, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
