The 1936 D2 Dodge was available in 116 in sort wheelbase and 128 in long wheelbase, the export models were the D3 and D4 on 113 in wheelbase. Not only did it have a revised narrower grille but it had a lower roofline, a new steel top that blended smoothly into the roof surface, lower floor and parking lamps mounted on the front fender aprons
The Coupe Utility was unique to Australia, Ford Australia was the first company to produce a coupe utility as a result of a 1932 letter from the wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia asking for “a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays”.
